R J-P: Not sure if the extra large was needed for the remains, although weight was about 270 pounds. I felt bad that I had this huge urn for the family when maybe the regular size would have worked. Know that the funeral home/mortuary will do the transfer for you and should be no charge.

Susan E. Greene: Exquisite! I rescue feral and tame cats. I purchased this for my cats who have passed. Their individual ash containers were overwhelming my house. There actually was no where else to place them. This container is for a person up to 300 lbs. It's heavy even when empty. It may hold my precious animals named from A-M (I also have dogs as well). I'm planning on getting another. This one is currently displayed in my hutch. I love it and highly recommend it.
