zoey: This stuff has been around for ever and is kind of hard to find. I bought this for a neighbor who has a bad habit of biting her nails till they bleed and has been doing so for over 20 years. She starting using this and she no longer bites her nails and they are growing out.

Xerxes Printer: The product is absolutely good for nothing. Used it twice and found my child still biting nails. I tried it on my nails too and there is absolutely no bitter taste as the product suggests. Useless waste of money. Do not buy, please.

SamFudge: I bought Thum to try to stop my 22 month old daughter from sucking two fingers on her left hand. It works because the taste keeps her from sucking them, but sometimes she'll suck them anyway. I am thinking that I might need something stronger, but I will continue to use this product because my daughter sucks her fingers less. I am hoping that she'll slowly wean off the fingers and eventually break the habit completely.
My recommedation to parents who want to stop finger sucking totally is that they should give this a try, but keep in mind it may not be a quick fix. It does work well in keeping the frequency of finger sucking low and gives my daughter opportunity to find other ways to self-soothe.
