Amazon Customer: I do a lot of 3D printing and many times there are threads needed in the part. Many times part hole I.D.'s are just a bit smaller than the actual root diameter to tap them straight away, requiring the need for seperate drilling and then tapping/threading. There drill taps work perfect with a small electric screwdriver to ream and tap multiple holes quickly and in one step!!! Great for plastic...can't comment on use with metals.

Paula: If you're wondering why you need a set of drill-tap bits when you already have drill bits and a few taps, watch a video on using them. They won't change the way you look at life but they make one thing easier. I was expecting to have to ease the bit through once I made a hole in the metal, but that wasn't the case. The bit poked through, the tap engaged, and then I had a threaded hole. This was with a hand-held drill. I didn't have a drill press handy to see how well that worked.

If you're wondering if this is the set of drill-taps for you, read on. As drill bits, this set is not as good as my high-priced sets. These work fine on aluminum but take a while to get through medium steel and I don't think they'd make it through hardened steel. I didn't use any one bit enough to get an idea of how long they'd last; at a guess, not that long. All that said, this set is cheaper than a set of top quality bits and has the taps included. If you won't be needing a huge number of tapped holes, and the sizes here work for you, I think this is a good buy.
