Tsuisato: This is a strong effort by the author. I enjoyed the perspective of women who resisted and their perspectives. I did have some questions about the editing/translation especially in the last segment. To me, there were some places which felt out of place.

Biz Writer: Without planning, I read this book just prior to a trip to Amsterdam. I looked at the city in a new -- and more complete -- way, thanks to Iperen's incredible research and writing skill. There were very few people doing resistance work who survived life and death decisions, much less imprisonment. Therefore, this story rings true thanks to well documented facts. As a result, we toured the Dutch Resistance Museum in Amsterdam, which was riveting, especially after visiting the Corrie ten Boom house in Haarlem. I highly recommend the book, whether or not you plan a trip to the Netherlands.

bigmamamash: This book is based in true events. The author does a good job of describing the misery of the situation and the difficult ethical questions people faced. I cried tears of joy and empathy for the people who suffered. It's also different from other WWII books in that this was a family of Jews who were able to hide themselves.

Anonymouz: I devoured this book. It is so interesting and gives a new view to Jews trying to survive, and surviving, the Holocaust. The book also tells the fate of Anne Frank & family. The story is so well written. It is hopeful, sad, victorious, and so much more. It elicits so many emotions. The author does an excellent job drawing you in. Highly recommended.

CMacKinnon: I had to keep my phone handy to google names and places, or I got all fouled up. The extra information, especially place names, made the story clearer. After thirty pages, I was sailing through the book. Use google to get family photos, and a photo of their home. The timing of political changes was shocking, it was about six months from normal to Jews as nonpersons. Then it’s all survival. Highly recommended.
