Hanna: The book is quite comprehensive and is perfect for those who are still thinking of starting low-carb lifestyle. The structure of the book is quite chaotic, I feel it would be better to have a comprehensive essay in the beginning of the book and recipes in the end, because it's not easy finding them in a kindle edition since they are in the middle. Otehr than that, I am very happy with all the info and the recipes provided.

Rich Bartlett: Excellent read, if you don't like the science stuff then forget the hit after the recipes. Great healthy lifestyle change, since using the LCHF diet I've lost nearly 10kg in 7 weeks, I have tons of energy, my skin has improved and my acid reflux has all but gone. My gut health seems to have radically improved as well. My gf has also lost 5 kg in 6 weeks and doesn't get bloating now. The last episode was due to high carbs (with and without gluten) and artificial sweeteners.
After reading this book I'd recommended buy some ketostixs and use my fitness pal and strictly measure your food to see what you're eating. Don't be deterred by any lack of progress, be strict - good foods, good fats and measure everything if you plateau. I found that I only needed to eat when I was hungry so it was natural to do some intermittent fasting. You need to listen to your body not your cravings and this is usually why people fail. If you cannot lose weight your very IR and fasting will help even if you're on medications that increase insulin production. If you eat right you won't be hungry enough to pick and snack.
Don't be deterred by research that shows LCHF diets aren't good, there...

LK: I am on my fourth week of this diet I haven't lost any more than the 7 pounds I initially lost but apparently that is a good thing and means the weight should drop of gradually. The book is filled with recipes, suggestions, nudges and science at the back as to how and why the diet works for most people. Please note that I say for most people. For myself the recipes could be a tad more precise and be better proof read but the content is there and if you just apply common sense after reading the book re the recipes then you'll be fine. The banting bread is delicious, we make variations and with butter and or cheese it's even better. Very easy to make too. The nutty crackers are a great carry around with you snack. This diet is the easiest thing in the world to do once you get past the initial thing of eating so much fatty meat. It was a bit of a novelty for me in the first week. By the second week I started looking forward to everything I ate and felt so surprised still that I never felt hungry in between meals. I shall stick with this diet for three months after which I shall get a check up with the doctors just to make sure everything is ticking along fine - it is a sensible thing...

El Presidente: I like Prof Noakes, he is a very clever guy that is without argument. I switched to a LCHF lifestyle 6 weeks ago. The first three weeks were very hard on my running. Literally I was dead legged (and arms) from the first 10s until the last step. But slowly during the 4th week I saw a light.
I did my run ths Sunday, only 8 miles...but, I felt energized the whole way and felt like I was running on sugar again. Only this time when I get to 16 miles+ I will not bonk, hit the wall or whatever you want to call it.
I have lost 8lbs in 5 weeks without counting a single calorie. I go the whole day without craving a mid afternoon sugar rush. I feel liberated. I won't lie, it's not been plain sailing. The transformation is hard on your meals as well as your running but so far I am a 100% believer.
As for the book. The science bit (Noakes) is compelling. He outlines why and presents the evidence in an easy to understand way. The outline of how his peers vilified him when he was brave enough to hold his hands up and say "I was wrong" is as infuriating as it is amazing to read.
The food bit is great, It set's you on the path and is enough to get you through the first 3...

Lobz: The book has great insights into the harms of high carbohydrate low fat (HCLF) diets and the benefits of the opposite - low carbohydrate high fat (LCHF) diets. I found the book a bit overzealous in its pontification especially when it came to labeling many foods toxic without going into the evidence to support these claims. It makes a compelling case for the LCHF and I was sold, in spite of my skepticism of some of the assertions made. The recipes are also very creative and helpful as well as the references for further reading.

Stemya: I never write reviews but felt compelled to write one for this book that we now refer to as the bible of life and cooking. This book has honestly been the best cook book I have ever purchased and it is so informative (if you have time to read all about the science of why we should change the way we eat). I decided along with my husband a few months ago to change the way we eat. Nutri bullet shakes and counting calories were not shifting the weight and we didn't feel any better for it.
I came across a website that went detail about low-carb, high-fat diets and why our diets should change. I hunted all over the internet to try to find decent low-carb, high-fat cookbooks and there are not many out there that are TRUE low-carb, high-fat cookbooks (some say they are but when you learn more about what to eat and what is bad for you, some of the books had recipes with ingredients that should be cut out of your diet, so not true books).
My husband and I have tried quite a few recipes now out of this book and another book Tom Kerridge Dopamine Diet Cookbook (which is basically low-carb, high-fat diet too) and I must say that we feel happier, healthier and fuller. I work full time and...

Tracy A: When I first heard about Banting a few years ago, I was sceptical but it is such a big thing in South Africa that I decided to give it a go having spoken to people there who have been following this way of eating for a few years and have shed weight, feel healthier and come off all sorts of medication as a result. This book is fabulous, the science just makes sense and the recipes are easy. I tend to read this book in bits and go back to it every so often to reacquaint myself with things I've forgotten. I have lost weight, my joints don't ache any more and I feel better and have more energy. I do cheat but I've come to the conclusion that cheating isn't worth it, the joint pains come back and I feel bloated and put on weight. I've got a hard copy of the book which I use when I'm in South Africa but it was the kindle version I bought on Amazon. I see there are quite a few low carb books on the market now but having glanced at a few of them, this is the best. My cholesterol did go up initially but I'm hoping that now I'm back in the UK and eating more fish rather than great big fat juicy steaks in SA, that this will have come down. Having read elsewhere that Tim Noakes says that it...

Linda Thacker: The Real Meal Revolution is a very well thought out book, easy to read with up-to-date information. I do not need to be a scientist to understand it and yet it is based in sound scientific fact. If you are starting out on your low carb, healthy fat journey I highly recommend this book. The recipes are to-die-for. I have tried a different recipe every night and every recipe has been a delicious success. My husband and I are eating gourmet meals which are easy to prepare. I do not like cooking generally, but with these recipes it has brought the joy of cooking and eating back to me. This book sits out on my kitchen counter within easy reach as I refer to it several times a day, every day. And by the way, the fat is melting off my husband and he is never hungry any more. Thank you to Tim, Jonno and Sally-Ann for this amazing book.

Wakka: I bought this book because Tim Noakes is the real deal when it comes to experimenting with running and endurance athletics research. My wife was (in years past) on the cusp of elite marathoner status. Many things she learned through trial and error, and through her exposure to other marathoners and coaches, ended up appearing later on in books by Tim Noakes. So color me a little bit surprised-but-not-so-surprised, when he lent his efforts to a book about low-carb eating. I've been a low-carber off and on since the 90's and was a proponent of Atkins back in the day.
There isn't much in this book that is very new (in fact that is the point, because the authors go through the long history of carb-restriction diets) for those of us who have read Atkins and similar books.
Where the book goes slightly off-track is in the pieces of the book that are poorly researched and full of some amounts of hyperbole. Those aren't the portions authored by Tim Noakes, but rather one of the other contributors who I fear is of the "Nutritionist" type. There is a sentence in the book that reads: "Soya is a genetically modified, toxic non-food with a host of problems and should not be...
