By: Walter Rodney (Author), Angela Davis (Introduction)
Walter Rodney's "How Europe Underdeveloped Africa" is considered one of the best African Politics Books, offering an in-depth look at the effects of colonialism on the continent. With a strong emphasis on overall satisfaction, value for money, binding and pages quality, this book is a must-read for anyone interested in understanding the history of Africa. It provides a comprehensive overview of the political, economic, and social turmoil that has shaped the continent for centuries. With a focus on the consequences of colonialism, Rodney's work offers an invaluable resource for anyone seeking to understand the effects of imperialism on Africa. Brandon Scott Pilcher: Walter Rodney makes a convincing case that European colonial activities not only abused and exploited the peoples of Africa, but also did very little to “develop” their colonies beyond facilitating the exploitation process. It’s no wonder that African countries have struggled so much after achieving de jure independence. However, I have to take away a star because I didn’t agree with Rodney’s Marxist appraisal of various “communist” regimes like the USSR and North Korea, even though those countries were socialist in name only and would be better characterized as state capitalist. I also feel that the book being an older work meant that it had less to say on the current phenomenon of neocolonialism.
Overall, though, it is a valuable resource if you want to know how bad the old version of colonialism was.

Roger Boyd: This is an absolute classic on the realities of European colonization, and so great that it is available in kindle. This should be on the curriculum of every school, a superb refutation of the "white man's burden" and those that still attempt to lionize empire and colonization. Walter Rodney was a shining light snuffed out by an assassins bomb far too young.

ALISON ABEBRESE: I feel that a lot of information that should be readily available to the masses, has to be sought out on purpose.
I bought this book, because it was referenced in something light hearted I was reading.
It is informative, but heavy on the soul.

LoveLove: Great resource and I highly recommend BUT my book is missing about 33 pages which is very heartbreaking. Especially since I just now noticed. Maybe that’s what I get for being a slow reader because now I am unable to return it.
