Barbara Simmons: This is a great book from beginner like me who might be unsure or even a little intimidated by the tarot. The author understands that a new reader might not know how cards correlate in a spread and she shows how even negative cards (7 of swords! Oh no!) can be read as positive. Very nice. Very grateful. clara10159clara10159: Goes over all the minor and major arance in some detail. Explains how to seat up and read three and six card spreads ect. The font is a nice standard size. The paper is a nice thickness. The cover artwork is beautiful as always. I would recommend this for any beginner just starting out or Vaterns alike.

Kirsten: I recently started getting into Tarot again and this has become my go to guidebook for the simple layouts and clearly written card interpretations. The "introduction to Tarot" field is crowded with contenders and I own several other books on this subject, including a couple with bright illustrations, but this simple guidebook is my favorite one of all and the one I keep going to again and again. I do recommend getting it in paperback form because you'll be flipping through it a lot. Get this book if you have a Rider-Waite deck - it's all you need starting out, and you won't be disappointed.
