ButteryToast: Once you get it running, it's a great printer. Huge build surface, quiet-ish, and decent print quality once you get it dialed in. That's where the tricky part comes in. Leveling this beast is a bit finicky due to the large bed. Manual leveling can take some time and a bit of practice to really get it right, and a couple tweaks in your slicer of choice can help a good bit. But once you get everything dialed in, it's great. The run-out sensor, and touch auto-leveling work pretty much as advertised, adhesion is pretty decent.

Canceling a print manually or via the clog/run-out detection could be a little faster. The program will continue to run for a few seconds after it pauses or cancels, which can lead to issues further in the print.

Pros:
huge build area, great for larger prints
fairly fast
mostly quiet
Decent print quality for prototyping or hobby use

Cons:
it's BIG. Don't underestimate the size of the machine like I did. Make sure you have plenty of space to park this thing.
Large bed makes leveling a little tricky, but not impossible
cancelling or pausing a print can take some time.

Overall, it's a great printer...

James: I am a complete novice and brand new to 3D printing. I ordered this particular model because of the large print bed size as most printers seem to have very small build areas. It arrived ahead of schedule 90% assembled; all I had to do was attach the vertical gantry and filament holder. It even came with a generous amount of PLA filament and everything worked perfectly right out of the box despite the fact that I know nothing about 3D printing. It came with good assembly instructions but zero operating instructions. There were several items on the menu screen that I as a novice do not understand but I was able to print via the included USB cable direct from Cura on my laptop. However it would be nice if Sunlu would write a set of operating instructions to include with all their printers for the sake of beginners like me to speed up the learning curve. That's my only criticism, it's a great printer and I would buy it again.

Me gustó mucho

CrankyKong65: 1: I love this machine! My first 3D printer was the Ender 3, which is relatively close in price ($170 and $210.)

2: Both printers have roughly the same quality/capability, but the Sunlu S8 Plus has a larger print area, auto bed leveling and a filament sensor.

3: Figuring out how to set up the profile in Cura was as easy as could be and the firmware is a version of Marlin.

4: I couldn't find another 3D printer at this price point that had the capabilities this one does and I am blown away by the price for the quality you get.

5: The printer was constructed well and it arrived very quickly. The assembly was easier than the Ender 3, and the Ender 3 was a breeze to build.

6: I replaced the brass nozzle with a hardened steel one and have printed with both PETG and PLA with great results.

7: The only thing I could possibly gripe about would be that the bed takes slightly longer to heat up, but it makes perfect sense as the thing comes with a nice glass build plate.

JoeJoe: Background: I own 3 3D printers, and have had an Ender 3 for 3 years, and have torn it apart and rebuilt it several times. I would not buy this printer again, but the reason is a bit deeper than the 'first impression'

Long story short, this thing lasted 4 prints and is now dead. The picture shows the thermal error I get, so either it's already blown a thermistor or the heating element is dead.

This printer went together well...it's one of the simpler printers to assemble. The 'plus' version gives you the metal extruder pieces, and a filament runout sensor, as well as a decent glass bed. I had it leveled and printing the test print in no time, and the first print came out smooth and had great adhesion. I see why this printer gets so many great reviews, esp. from first time buyers.

The runout sensor is nice, as is the glass bed. I was able to get good adhesion. However the stepper drivers are awful...even Creality's cheaper printers opt for the 'silent' steppers, which are basically an upgraded board which is capable of driving the steppers smoothly so they don't whir. This thing makes a racket and cheap steppers affect print quality. There's...
