Kate: Honestly this book is an amazing, simple journey through an argument that has plagued many artists, writers, and humans alike. It gives a sense of permission and suggestion wrapped in funny commentary that makes you think about what you are doing or aren’t doing. There is insight and confidence to be found in this book and in the quotes and in the mismatched doodles and poems of the author. It’s a life lesson and art lesson and writing lesson mixed into a reflection of a creative soul, giving a reader a chance to see themselves reflected back.

Placeholder: this book challenges your thinking by using the word 'steal', but understanding and taking your time with the book makes you realise the beauty of it, and also gives you a new perspective over the word

Dreamer: What an inspiration-churning machine. I ordered this book, it arrived today, and I read it from cover to cover in one sitting - I didn't want to put it down. I will come back to it again and again when I need a reminder, a swift kick in the pants to stop fussing over whatever you are wasting time on and remember to live as the artist that you are! Stay inquisitive, never stop playing and creating, and when inspiration strikes write it down/take a picture/save it/re-visit it/dance with it/sing it out!

Amazon Customer: It’s an amazing book also for peeps that don’t work in the creative industry. The author puts things into perspective and the book is written in a very simple and fun way, with lots of doodles and side notes.
I have both the pocket version and the hard cover, the size is a bit odd but I think that’s part of the design. :)

pragyanbezbopragyanbezbo: Th content is gold. I have read his other books. This is the first time reading this one.
I received the book yesterday. Read like 30 pages into it. Today I opened and a few pages were out of the stitch. The book quality could definitely be better than this one.
I do not handle things badly. And in 1 day I definitely did not play catch with a kid using this book.

Andrew Everett: Austin Kleon writes, “All advice in autobiographical… This book is me talking to a previous version of myself… These ideas apply to anyone who’s trying to inject some creativity into their life and their work. (That should describe all of us.)” The book is thoughtfully written and designed in a creative six-inch by six-inch format.
The idea behind stealing like an artist is that “nothing is completely original… All creative work builds on what came before... If we’re free from the burden of trying to be completely original, we can stop trying to make something out of nothing, and we can embrace influence instead of running away from it.”
“We learn by copying. We’re talking about practice here, not plagiarism—plagiarism is trying to pass someone else’s work off as your own. Copying is about reverse engineering… Remember: Even The Beatles started as a cover band.”
“You are the sum of your influences… Your job is to collect good ideas. The more good ideas you collect, the more you can choose from to be influenced by… Seeing yourself as part of a creative lineage will help you feel less alone as you start making your own...
