burnt thumbs: This is my second effort to review this product as the first does not show up even though confirmed by Amazon
I think this is great Miso as a good taste in Miso soup and dissolves well in warm soup. My only complaint which is very marginal and not worth a loss of a star is the package does not state the best way to store it after opening. You only use a very small amount in a pot of soup and i want to preserve the taste for future use. Price is outstanding compared to local grocery stores.

Jessie G.: Shirakiku Miso Paste is my preferred brand for Miso. It's not as salty as the Miso paste offered locally in the stores here in Fairbanks.It has great flavor and I use it quite often.
I have made Miso soup multiple times, Miso Chicken ( also multiple times) salad dressing, sauces, and I'm still experimenting.
I made Miso chicken with another brand ( the one available locally) and the chicken came out so salty it was hard to eat. When I made the same recipe with this Shirakiku Brand Miso, it was perfect! It was NOT overly salty, you could taste the miso but also the other flavors (sesame, sugar, ginger, beer) blended well.
The Miso soup comes out perfect every time and is so fast and easy!
I love Miso and would highly recommend this brand, it's a good price for a large quantity and good quality.
