C. Andrews: it is very well built of solid steel ( i guess) and I think will do the job of protecting your documents. Of course until you have a fire or flood there is no way to know for sure. Also this is not a safe and isn't meant to be. The lock is there to keep your documents private, but not to prevent theft.

MVOC: Holds all the important life papers, more than what I thought could fit in there. The lock was a bit difficult to work until I realized that you have to push in and turn. Then it was ok. I give this 4 stars instead of 5 because after I filled it up and closed it, the unit weighed over 20 lbs. The plastic handle seems a bit flimsy to lift that much weight. I would not want to drop this on my foot during transport if the handle gave way. Other than that it appears to be an excellent sturdy unit. Hope it never has to be tested out with fire or flood. I also ordered desiccant gel packs to put in there and some fire bags.
