Your Health Matters A. Marr: Anyone interested in thoroughly relevant research to understanding the healing potential inherent in each individually diverse healthy functioning micro biomes could do worse than read this book. The 21st century can still attest to the fact a pill for every Ill medical practice falls short in treatment let alone cures for inflammatory disease. (Endometriosis, type 2 diabetes, IBD,Asthma,Obesity, Altzheimers, Parkinson’s, Rheumatoid arthritis )Discovering the cause of an ailment/disease needing treatment requires different investigative measures as opposed to only considering the acknowledged medical treatment of the symptoms. This book offers a good look at the future of cause diagnosis and draws on researched information to do so.

sydney: This book is a smooth delivery of the new research on gut biome and mood. The information is digestible and as someone who has a bit of anatomy background I am even more excited for the health revolution ahead. Highly recommend to any health nut or anyone who has chronic depression. This is it!!!

AllyChat: This is an important book which I feel everyone working in medicine and mental health should read. There is alot of information but it is a comparatively easy and surprisingly, for the most part given its subject matter, fun to read. As a mental health social worker / clinical supervisor I had quite alot of 'aha' moments. There is an excellent index, glossary and an impressive list of references included. It also gives practical suggestions that can help practitioners and patients get on with putting things in place that may assist mental health recovery to venture in pathways that may not have previously been considered. It also shines a light on current and future research and likely developments in this field. I do think there will be a psychobiotic revolution and this appears to be a critical and timely book that is much needed.

Drumgal: I feel much better informed on this subject now, having recently started a probiotic regimen. I found this book entertaining to read (for a subject that I suppose could be dry and boring.) I am fascinated that this complex system resides in the gut and is responsible for our health, moods, thoughts and more! I wish there had been more re: the Vagus nerve connection and also the benefits of intermittent fasting in conjunction with proper foods to heal and support the gut, but I found plenty here to be inspired!

Jerry Woolpy: The Psychobiotic Revolution: mood, food, and the new science of the gut-brain connection, by Scott Anderson Reviewed by Jerry Woolpy

We have discovered that our DNA is 99% microbes and only 1% us. And microbes have more to do with our health and wellbeing than we might have imagined. Evidence provided in this book establishes that the diversity of our microbes: bacteria, fungi, protists, viruses, all influence or maybe determine our diseases and moods. Changing our diet or otherwise altering the distribution of populations of microbes in our gut has profound effects that we are just now beginning to realize. Our risk of Alzheimer’s, diabetes, depression, Irritable bowels, and many other afflictions is correlated with certain microbes that communicate along the vagus nerve to the brain, affect our hormones, our immunity, and our mood. A few treatments are available, some are in experimental phase, and others are still imagined for the future. There is a possibility that microbes may be able to more precisely target disease than antibiotics or any other known treatments.
