S J Kurtz: Key points: I needed a hat for a costume and have a big (23") head. Liked it, bought a second.
I've bought two of these for costuming and they trim up nicely, the crown can be shortened, the ruffles removied and it can heated to flatten any creases from shipping (use a pressing cloth and pay attention). It has no sun shielding powers but will hold a lot of trimming. I spraypainted the while one for an ombre effect and it turned out well (regular spray paint, nothing fancy). there's an interior drawstring to make the interior band smaller, it's relatively effective. I'd add a ribbon to keep it from blowing away if you're going outdoors.

Amazon Customer: I needed a Kentucky Derby style hat for the races. This was a beautiful hat, but it arrived with black marks on it if it wasn’t for that would be perfect.

V S: It arrived folded into a small cardboard box. Apparently, this was the correct shipping method. Since I was able to easily unfold the hat. I stuffed the tow with paper to reshape the crown if the Hst. It is just fine. It looks lovely as is, but I will make an embellished head band to wear on the hat. I belong to the Red Hst Society. We typically wear red hats at meetings and purple clothing. It’s what we do! However, during our “birthday month, we typically wear purple hats with red clothing (opposite our normal regalia.)
Amazon is a great place to find lovely “lady’s hats”…typically not sold at many retsil stores.
