Mike.T: To those who used zip ties to hold the foot pedal linkage together: YOU PUT IT ON BACKWARDS!
Just turn the long piece of linkage around and it'll work perfectly.

This can is perfect for Kirkland's blue 30 X 33inch trash bags or any other 90l ribbon tying bags. The side hooks do a great job of keeping the bag fastened to the can. Also, the can has a slow closing function that makes it even easier to use.

A very simple, but rugged design. I can see it lasting decades and I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

Amazon Customer: I bought this product a month ago. This product is easy to install and exactly meets my needs. Perfect size to hold 1 weeks trash of my family of 3. I put it outside of my home. City provides a huge trash can that is not good to handle. I put my trash from inside my home to this can every night, so inside home no smelly bags. So for 7 days trash collect with it and put in the City's huge can for City removal. Awesome design, it was made and engineered/designed such a way it becomes very user friendly. I did not find any other product like this one. I am very happy with this product.

LovesToRead: So after 15+ minutes of trying, I finally managed to get the lid assembled. The instruction manual is no help. I was lucky enough to buy two of these things. Assembled they look great. I hope they function as well.
Note to Safco: Have them come assembled or don't come at all!

Sunsetcoveca: Linkage for the foot pedal does not stay attached. Needed to use a zip tie to fix it. Safco is no threat to Rubbermaid.

jimmy Estimable: Each time you use the foot pedal to open the lid, it may slide back a little bit, so if you set it directly in front of a wall, it may scratch the wall. I keep a broom behind the garbage to prevent this. It's almost important to note that the clips included to hold the garbage bag in place are really tiny, and won't work with really thick garbage bags. At the end of the day they work, but they could have been designed a lot better. And lastly, the lid doesn't really open too high (about a 50 degree angle if I were to guess from memory), but not really a big deal. Overall it's exactly what I needed in a garbage. Sturdy, keeps the smell in with a tight close, and so far, durable.

Great buy if none of the petty issues I wrote above will bother you.

UPDATE #1 - 8/30/17: As of a few days ago, the foot pedal broke. This was under perfectly normal use, no funny business, a piece of the pedal snipped off and now I'm forced to use my hands to open the lid, thus defeating the purpose of the foot pedal. Seems like weak engineering. Will attempt to get a replacement via warranty and see how that goes (does this product even come with a warranty? lol)

Savontb82: My parents own a very nice trash can by Rubbermaid. I love the quality and had searched everywhere for one like it. I found plenty of them online for nearly $200! When I found this product for less than half the price, I bought it right away. This thing is worth every penny. We've been using it for about six months, and I have nothing but good things to say:

1. Simple Assembly - Yes, it took some elbow grease, but I was able to put it together in about 2 minutes.
2. Large Capacity - My family of 6 generates a lot of trash. Our old trash can would fill up daily, but this one every other day.
3. Very Sturdy - What good is a large trash can if it doesn't hold up? I expect this one to last for many years.
4. Easy Operation - The step is strong, convenient and works consistently well.
5. Holds Bag in Place - It has little hooks that help to keep the bag from falling down inside.
5. Easy to clean - Any stains can be easily wiped away with a damp cloth.
6. Decent Looking - Nothing fancy, but has a simple clean design. It's big, but the neutral color blends in with any decor.
