E27: I’ve been reading quite a few spy thriller type books lately and have especially enjoyed these novels. Hats off to Steven Konkoly.

Ed: Well the mountain certainly delivered on excitement and nail bitting, looking forward to book 4. Can't imagine how Decker keeps up the pace.

Happy: This book, as were the previous two, is well researched and well written. It moves at a rapid pace and entertains and excites all the way. Just the right amount of twists and turns to keep you yearning for more. A truly fine read!!

Dan Berger: I found this story easier to follow than some of Konkoly’s. He can lose me when there are layers of interlinked bad guys, although things usually clarify by the end. Here it’s pretty straightforward.
A big Washington linked security firm with a secret dark side has mounted a huge growing operation in northern California’s remote and lawless marijuana lands. The profits will give the company an untraceable source of wealth in the billions with which to fund its secret ops.
It’s a private sector version of the “off the shelf” income source that so preoccupied Bill Casey and Oliver North way back when.
It comes to our characters’ attention when a young man disappears there. His parents are friends of Senator Steele’s. She dispatches Ryan Decker and Harlow Mackenzie on it with unlimited funding.
I like this story. That the United States harbors an area as dangerous as South American or Afghan narco-lands is sobering. Konkoly gives us lots of detail. The West’s wide-open spaces provide endless hiding places for large-scale skulduggery.
The tactical cat and mouse is good, both in the bang-bang and the digital. Decker and another op...

Stephen AL: Ryan Decker is the person to hire to get rid of a problem that most would fear to tackle- ruthless, without conscience, bullying murderers, who enjoy making the innocent suffer. In this story, the job is to locate the son of a friend of the Senator, gone missing in a marijuana growing region where many have gone missing and are never found. Skinheads, cops turning the other way, all in the control of a higher lawless power. The problem for them is that Decker brings the team, bankroll, brains, and firepower to the show to challenge rule by fear. Good character development in this book of the team supporting him. Some explaining to do as the body count becomes difficult not to notice.

Lagoon: If you are going to select one series to follow; one that gives you nigh on non-stop action, sarky dialogue, government conspiracies and, of course, more firepower than you can throw a frag grenade at, then you could do a lot worse than to follow Decker and his crew. This is the third book in the series and, having read all three, this is as good as ever. The plots have some real thought behind them; you will not find that in many similar styled series or one offs. The protagonists are likeable. The conversations don’t make you cringe. There’s a lot to be said for such a series.
There are other great books out there of course. All I’d say is that adding this series to your library would be no bad thing.

Donald Farley: Decker and his colleagues had to frequently take on superior enemy forces which he was able to out match with his selection of superior weapons and technology. There is lots of action with dangerous strategy. Mystery villains in the background with lots of capital and power are a continuous threat.

healthysean: Isn't it great when a new book arrived on your kindle, especially when you forgot about it, and here we have Book 3 in the Ryan Decker series....
Investigating a missing persons case on Murder Mountain means looking for trouble in a propulsive thriller by the author of The Raid.
When someone disappears on Northern California’s lawless Murder Mountain, it isn’t news. The vast terrain for illegal marijuana harvests is also a notorious black hole for outsiders. But when that someone is the family friend of the persuasive and righteous Senator Steele, finding him becomes covert investigator Ryan Decker’s mission.
For Decker, the risks of infiltrating a multi-billion-dollar outlaw industry are greater than he could possibly understand. Especially when that industry has flourished into the profitable backbone of a secretive and influential DC-based think tank. And protecting its untraceable revenue in the Emerald Triangle is a band of ruthless white nationalists.
What begins as a seemingly straightforward favour soon pulls Decker and his partner, Harlow Mackenzie, into a high-stakes conspiracy linked to the most cold-blooded puppet masters and power...

Richard Lang: Steven Konkoly's always managed to produce some hard edged thrillers, and the Ryan Decker series is no exception. Before starting The Mountan, I went back and re-read the first two Decker novels to refresh my memory of his cast of characters . I'm glad I did, just simply because I spent two days in the world he created.
After the military and the CIA, Decker put his skills to use forming a private World Rescue Group of mostly former operatives. Hunting for the missing daughter of a Senator, everything Ford's wrong at once. The FBI interrupts the op, everyone attempting to rescue the hostages is blown up, and Decker winds up in jail. He survived 8 attempts on his life over two years while at the same time his wife and son are killed, surviving !embers of his team (and their families) are killed, and he's about to testify about when 1) the case is dropped and 2) he's suddenly agree man.
After surviving assassination attempts immediately after release, he partners with Harlow McKenzie and her team of people committed to stopping human trafficking. (She's already in love with him - 10 years prior she was a teenager rescued by his tesm). And that was the first few...

Curtis Blair: If you like James Bond and things blowing up, you’ll love this book. Decker and the gang are after a major pot operation that turns out to be very well funded.
