MR IAN WILSON: How the author managed to wade through the layers of red tape put before him baffles me but he did and in the process wrote a funny but informative and entertaining book well worth a read!

PR: Amazing book, wonderfully written. Beavers are so misunderstood but they do the most amazing work in restoring our environment. This books explains easlily and clearly what has happened to the beavers over years, why they were no longer in the UK and how one brave and commited person found the way to get them reintrodduced despite all the difficulties.

Mer: This book was recommended to our group of county naturalists. I enjoyed the writing of this adventure Mr. Gow took us on with his passion for beavers. At times I wanted to cheer for him and sometimes pat him on the back to say you tried. Excited for his next book. Keep up the good work and keep writing!

Donald Gatzke: A charming, folksy story, maybe a little light on some of the scientific details I was looking for, but a good guy working on a good project is worth knowing about and supporting by buying his book.

cynthia:
Every once in a while I like to read outside my normal literary genres and "Bringing Back The Beaver" by Derek Gow was my most recent experiment. Wow, I was richly rewarded! Derek Gow, a farmer turned beaver ecologist writes a rollicking tale about the long journey to try to reintroduce beavers into the British landscape and along the way meets a riotous lot of colorful characters who share his passion. Some of his stories had me laughing out loud, and his enthusiasm for his beaver quest had me cheering him on. I really cannot overstate what an engaging writing style he has.
I have an interest in the environment and leaving a space for animals as so many species dwindle, but beavers? I honestly never thought about them before reading this. The book is short enough that you don't get dragged down with minutiae, and interesting enough that you want to plow on. I am proof that you don't have to harbor any great interest in the re population of beavers to find this an enjoyable read.
Thank you to Chelsea Green Publishing, NetGalley and the author for the ARC of this book.

Boing: I bought this book knowing that I was going to a talk by the author. The book like Derek's talk is very informative about the reintroduction of beavers and their ability to change the landscape for the better.
