matanex: Cheryl Mussatto has written an informative and easy to understand book for anyone dealing with prediabetes as well as people whom just want to live healthier. I have recommended this book to several diabetic and prediabetic friends and family and all of them have found this book to be insightful and extremely helpful in not only understanding prediabetes but how to reverse it.
Cheryl's book explains the difference between diabetes and prediabetes, statistics, symptoms, and even what to discuss with your doctor. She simply explains the characteristics and differences between carbohydrates, protein, fats, and how much should be consumed. I enjoyed the section on how to properly read and understand a nutrition label and its use a tool for making healthier decisions along with what foods should be kept in the kitchen and what foods should not. Cheryl also explains the importance of sleeping, exercising, and setting goals. The cookbook portion is incredible with recipes for all meals along with delicious sides and desserts. Overall I recommend this book to anyone whom wants or NEEDS to change their eating and lifestyle routine. That is why it called The Prediabetes Action Plan...

Patricia N. Doolittle: As a recently diagnosed Prediabetic, I was looking for solid information on understanding this disease as well as lifestyle changes to normalize my blood glucose levels and reverse my Prediabetes. The author solidly addressed these concerns in Part 1 Taking Action with a section on understanding Prediabetes, a whole health plan, and provided A 2 Week Action and Meal Plan. Her section on A Whole Health Plan goes into diet, eating habits, dietary recommendations, importance of regular exercise, goal setting, stocking your pantry and frig/freezer, However in Part 1 section 3, 2 Week Action and Meal Plan, the choices for meal plans and the ingredients re often stop short in consistently providing low calorie, low carb, low fat easy meal planning and preparation. The meals suggested are often high in calories, carbohydrates, and fats. The Spinach and Cheese Quiche provides, per serving , 445 calories. 14 grams of fat, 68 grams of carbs per serving. That to me is extreme and off the mark in lowering carbohydrates.

Anonymous: Seems that it is contradictory to what she said within the book as well as my reading of another author. Balancing out the carbs is difficult when considering lots of cheeses I don't care for. I like some cheeses, but I also have to be careful of eating too much cheese because it constipates the bowels. I am already on meds that do that.
