Beartrap: Fun book to read about how smart Mr Natural is. How many things he can teach to the simple minded folks in this world if they were smart enough to Listen,

Canada Goose: Cool book. Paper is good quality and the images/dialogues are well rendered on it. This my first Crumb book and I'm happy with it.

Chris Lo Pinto: Of all of R. Crumb's characters, I think Mr. Natural has the most timeless appeal. This is the most sensible cartoon I ever read. There are very few things to laugh about these days, yet reading this book last night, after a gap of forty-five years, still made my laugh out loud. This is a guy who should have a star on Hollywood Blvd. Mr. Natural is a Superstar, now and forever! This should be required reading in every highschool and for those seeking citizenship. Not only reading but understanding as well would be nice, since that seems to be rather passe' these days. For those of us who grew up in the fifties and sixties, that is not an issue. Later generations will have to take Mr.Natural on Their own terms, but that said, there will always be great comic value here.

O. Askholm: I am a long-time fan and aficionado of the works of R. Crumb. This is a good exemplar of his work about one of his famous cartoon characters. It is not for the weak nor the overly sensitive. As R. Crumb himself says: "It's only lines on paper..." But there is deep underlying profundity to his art, and it can only be appreciated by those who study and view his work in its entirety. This book is welcome addition to his canon.

Kirk McElhearn: When I was in high school in the early 1970s, a candy store a few blocks from the school sold Zap comics, though the owner kept them hidden. This helped me discover the wacky world of Robert Crumb, and the many other artists whose work was in Zap (notably Gilbert Shelton, and the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers). Reading this recently brought back some memories of that lost time, but the later stories in the book leave a lot to be desired. As with much of this work - and the same is true with Shelton - there was a brief period when these artists were able to capture the time, but as years passed, they kept on repeating themselves, and their work ends up like aging hippies.
It's a fun read, but it's not Crumb's best work. However, it does bring back good memories.
If only I had save those original Zap comics and other underground comics I had back then...

wyck: R. Crumb is known for the amazing texture and detail of his animation. His work had a spooky retro feel, that went back to a time when cartoons were important - even when they were whimsical. His biting humor, social insight, and energy are signatures of his work. Who can read this book without "lightening up" and at the end, having a sense of wonderment at the artistic gifts of this unique man - R Crumb is unparalleled.
