Farrah:): The chrome towel bar is nice but it does NOT have a high shine like other chrome items. So there is a bit of difference. It’s great that towels over most of it. The bar is sturdy and works great. The only problem is that it was scuffed on every side just about a dime size and I didn’t know what side to put in the front so I chose the one with the least amount of stuffing.

Sockowl: I live in a cookie-cutter urban apartment building with cheap finishings and my chintzy chrome finish towel bar snapped. I saw this item and the price, and was concerned when I took a chance and ordered that either (1) it would be even flimsier than the one I broke, or (2) I wouldn't be able to easily cut the bar down to the exact size I needed.

This product is remarkably sturdy and strong for the price, with an attractive brushed aluminum finish. It was easily cut with a small hacksaw... anyone adult could cut it quickly and accurately if they measure correctly.

Great value. Highly recommend!

Steven P. Spinella: We bought these bars because we like to install towel bars on studs. For some reason, people tug on towel bars. You could come up with a strategy to stop them, or you could install the ends into studs and cut the towel bars to length. Of course, this requires buying towel bars at least as long as the distance between studs. Since studs are typically on 16" centers in American wood-framed houses, this means a two stud towel bar must be 32" or so, cut precisely to length for the towel bar ends being reinstalled. It works!
Buying replacement towel bars is cheaper than buying complete sets. This is a basic aluminum square bar that fits common towel bar ends. Also for some reason, it is quite hard to find towel bar sets that are actually 32" center to center.
Note: to do this kind of installation, you need to locate the studs in the wall and be content with the resulting towel bar possibilities. Otherwise, you can pick the ideal location for your towel bar, cut this bar to any custom length, and figure out how you can attach it permanently to the wall you're working with.

simataassimataas: This direct replacement towel bar is far superior to the builder versions installed throughout our home (and in every apartment I've ever lived in or worked at). It's substantial - a much thicker gage, and doesn't have a noticeable seam running along one side. It cuts well with a hacksaw, which you are likely to need at this generous length.

I appreciate that it simply uses the existing hardware and fits perfectly. I had to replace an original towel bar because our youngest thought it would be fun to hang on it like it was a monkey bar at school. Two older siblings had their own run-ins with this towel rack a few years earlier, so the bar could no longer be salvaged (it really looked awful and should have been replaced long before). Anyway, the new bar is better and seems to be getting lots of use!
