Edgy is the best foil cutter I have ever used. It remains sharp and effective for years. Most of the foil cutters out there either are dull to start with or quickly get that way. They often fall to pieces with the cutters falling off...most likely because we push too hard because they are dull. Edgy has been immune to all these disappointing problems and continues to work like the day I took it out of the box. Speaking of which, it comes in a terrific, high quality box which echos the contents. It makes a great little gift and all of the wine drinkers in my family are getting one for Christmas!

T. Poole: Works nice. I have used a lot of cutters, and this one doesn't take up a lot of room in the drawer...I also can find it in the drawer since it is red. My last one that was black and was good...it was at an outdoor party and it was thrown away. Ther person that threw it away didn't know what it was, thought it was some form of black plastic that broke off of a sling soccer chair. So...because this is red and has a word printed on it, maybe it won't be mistaken for a piece of debris.
But on to functinality: It cuts easily and cleanly. The foil top lifted off with a perfectly cut edge, and litte effort was needed. Only need to seat it on top of the bottle, apply light pressure to keep it in place and then twist. Nice purchase, and I recommend this product.
I was not someone that received this free or discounted for my review. I paid the regular Amazon price (I did get a discount for purchasing two of them at the same time...gave that one to my aging mother that would like to drink red wine in the evening, but has trouble getting the foil off.) So this is not a paid review in other words.

jwh: I used to gaze at the fancier bottles of wine in my collection yearning to drink them, but completely befuddled as to how to find the bottle's cork. I knew the cork was hiding somewhere underneath the shiny metal foil firmly affixed to the bottle neck, shimmering like an elusive mirage. However, attempts to remove this stubborn oenophilic chastity belt with a knife or a scissors proved futile, and on one occasion practically fatal. While awaiting paramedics to arrive after severing a major artery and collapsing face down in a puddle of my own blood, I vowed to never again risk my own life attempting to remove another dastardly wine foil.
And so I was sadly relegated to drinking screw-top bottles of wine, doomed to live a pathetic, solitary life. I soon learned that nobody wants to be with a man who only drinks screw top or boxed wines; that's no a man, that's a child. Feeling hopeless and lonely, I decided to cash in my life savings and move to Minsk where I could spend the rest of my days drowning my sorrows in bottles of vodka with easily removable caps.
In a shocking twist of fate, on the morning of the day I was set to leave on a one-way flight to Minsk with no...

Charles Nordlander: Do you really NEED a foil cutter to open a bottle of wine? Of course not. For those times when I've misplaced my foil cutter (more about that in a moment) I've used a knife or the tip of a corkscrew to cut into the foil, then rip it off with my fingers. But using sharp and pointy objects on the slippery, narrow part of a bottle is never a good idea--and who wants to serve guests a nice bottle of wine with a ragged, jagged edge of torn foil around the neck?
With just a quarter-turn that takes literally a second, a good foil cutter will neatly remove the cap of foil over the cork, so you can remove it. But not all foil cutters are the same--I've owned several--and Edgy is the best I've used for these reasons:
First, it seats easily on the neck of the bottle in the proper cutting position. Getting some other cutters seated right can be a finicky process. Second, a simple squeeze positions the Edgy blades just right on any bottle I've tried, and the cutting wheels are really sharp, removing the foil in just a quarter-turn or so. With some other cutters, I've had to vary squeezing pressure, or go round and round the neck before the foil is cut. Third, the Edgy seems...
