Landon: These things were perfect while traveling abroad. Small and compact, good focus features for both up close and far away, great field of view, and good price. Maybe not the best for something like hunting, but for most people, a x6 zoom like this will be plenty for what you need.

Daniel: I gave 5 stars and decided to purchase two more the next day. Colors are brilliant and clear,...totally amazing for an inexpensive binoculars. Total five star binoculars. However, the focus knob is a little too easy to turn, but I can live with that. The strap adjustment is very difficult to move and takes a lot of patience, however, once in place the design will not slip at all, which is a plus. The binos provide a very wide view, extremely wide, which is a plus. So I bought two more because the colors are so brilliant, it was amazing. 5 star for ever.

Alastair McIntosh: I used to work with binoculars as a deer stalker's pony boy, so some observations. Our old binoculars had become fogged. Like in the tropics, fungal threads grow inside over time, especially when left in a steamy kitchen ... bad karma! But these are an amazing, for these reasons.

1. They use a unique patented system that allows really close focus on near objects, so they're incredible for looking at insects and flowers like a low powered microscope. My wife, for whom they were a present, says that they've transformed her experience of sitting out in nature.

2. The magnification is only 6.5 times. Don't be fooled. That is a virtue for small binoculars. The lower power increases the width of field by about 25% so it's easier to find that bird you spot in the sky, and see the wider context of the flock. It also makes them brighter which is better for poor light and reduces hand shake. We had chance to compare with the 8.5 magnification model, and like almost all the reviews I've seen, the 6.5 gives a much better experience. Only go for 8.5 if you will be viewing in good light and don't mind a more limited field of view. The clarity on both is amazing - as other...

Luciano Angeloni: Binocolo specializzato, pochi ingrandimenti ma messa a fuoco cortissima, ideale per uso MACRO (fiori, natura, musei). Come messa a fuoco solo i monocoli 4X possono avvicinarsi maggiormente, ma poi danno meno soddisfazione all'osservazione. Confezione sigillata, oggetto integro, consegna rapida, prezzo giusto.

Huck: I got these for my wife last Summer. We have a large wooded backyard and like many spent a lot of time at home. I have an old 7x35 pair of binoculars that she was not crazy about. A little intense for looking at birds I imagine. I got this pair for her

The Pentax Papillo works very well. Simple, lightweight, very easy to use. Great case and the covers for the eyepiece attach neatly to the neck strap. I had it set up for her vision and I don’t touch them. Work great in afternoon and into the early evening. Low light works fine even with small optics. Mosquitoes run you in before dark does. Tried using them over Christmas for the Jupiter / Saturn event and they were not surprisingly useless.

The macro close up focus is really handy. It is really fun for anyone. Great way to get people interested in birds / butterflies / insects, or just walking outside. The wide field of vision makes finding the subject in the woods easy. Does not frustrate a new user and makes the experience enjoyable

Can’t wait to take these traveling over the years. It’s all you really need unless you are a serious bird nut. If you are you’re not going to get below 7X anyway.

Brook Worm: One by the kitchen window, one in the glove box and one in the canoe seat back.
I also own more standard wildlife binoculars (and have owned Leica, Zeiss, and Zvaros over the years).
It's said that the best camera is the one you have with you. If that's true of binocs then these are hands down the best. They are small enough to fit in places you wouldn't normally think of keeping a pair of binocs and cheap enough that if you had to replace them through loss or damage you wouldn't think twice about it.
I first came to these when I realized my old eyes were not good enough to see the fine details used to identify dragonflies, because they allow you to focus as close as four feet or so. They are also excellent at fifty feet and usable at 100.
THE FINE PRINT: optical quality is mid-range - maybe better than anything else in their price range but not bright and crisp at dusk like the $1000 plus models.
Not sealed/waterproof - the one thing I would pay more for (because I never go canoeing without them). On the other hand, I have never gotten water or condensation in them either.
Fit and finish: the optics are durable but the rubber finger holds have a way of falling...

56: This is a decent though not spectacular binocular in the traditional sense. But the close focus capability of 18" absolutely IS spectacular!

This "II" version has fully multi-coated optics and gives an impressive image for such a small device. It's decent for back yard birding and such. Not quite as nice as our high quality 10x42 but only in the sense it doesn't magnify quite as much and is not quite as bright in low light conditions. After comparing, I would be perfectly happy with the Papilio as my only binocular for what we use them for. The eye relief is quite comfortable with or without glasses and it has zero tendency to black-out while looking at the periphery. It also has a wide sweet spot. The small size and light weight are great.

Where this thing completely rules is viewing small items close up, it's much like having a hand held stereo microscope that works at a distance! It is the absolutely perfect tool for looking at butterflies, dragonflies, all sorts of bugs and flower blooms, and things like lighted mineral sample displays at museums and such. It is an amazing piece of kit and in IMO, in the very top echelon of "bang for the buck". I will probably...
