Amazon Customer: This is not an easy book to read - not like a mystery or good novel but interesting read about a self made person who knows what she wants and knows how to get it. Politics is not an easy read and I am not a savvy person when it comes to politics but for anyone who wants to know about the hierachy of Washington politics this is certainly a good primer. For sure Nancy Pelosi would not be an easy person to work with but because she was brought up with good knowledge about right and wrong and who's a friend and who is not - she never forgets the importance of remembering the person (people) who have befriended her. Enjoy

Paul B.: I’ve admired Nancy Pelosi for some years. I loved this history lesson and use of power story included in this valuable & insightful book. The book provides many facts I didn’t know or recall together with useful explanations of the context within which Ms Pelosi worked. It is a very good read. The book delighted and “grabbed” me. It reads like a suspense thriller. Loved it!

Louise Interested Canadian: That book allowed me to understand American politic better. Well written I couldn't put it down.

Shenoa Erny: I have always been a big fan of Speaker Pelosi, and I was looking for a nonfiction book to inspire me to read more outside of my usual genre (YA; I’m only 23). As a young person, I didn’t start understanding politics until about 2010, so everything I loved about Pelosi was based on her actions from that date to the present. Learning so much about this woman before I came to admire her -or even know who she was- was amazing. I wouldn’t shut up about what I was reading to my parter (I bet she’ll be glad I finished this book), and I literally couldn’t put the book down.
If you’re looking to learn more about Congress, politics, factions, and partisanship, I’d recommend this book even if it wasn’t about Nancy Pelosi. And, if you’re looking for more reasons to like this woman, definitely give this a read, because it’s a wonderful insight into one of the most powerful women in America.

Hande Z: Until there is a woman in the White House, Nancy D’Alesandro Pelosi, the second in line to the Presidency (after the Vice President) is the most powerful woman in America, if not the world. This is one of the better books on Nancy Pelosi. The other two that are published this year, Christine Pelosi (Nancy Pelosi’s daughter) is less well-written, stylistically, and one cannot escape the feeling that it is a little less objective. The other by Brenda Jones and Krishan Trotman, is shorter but punchier.
But in terms of all-round quality and readability, Molly Ball’s ‘Pelosi’ should be the first choice. There can hardly be a more powerful introduction than Ball’s description of Pelosi’s first meeting with Trump on 11 December 2018 after she became the Speaker of the House for the second time in her career. In the battle between the wit and the less witty, Pelosi won. The tale is best read by the reader herself, but this is what Ball described the end of it: ‘She walked into the White House that day under a cloud of conflict and controversy, but she walked out an icon’.
The later chapters described her unprecedented rise to Speaker of the House, and her...

Bookmom: First, I am a Democrat, so I have a bias. However, my bias was that after the 2018 elections, it was time for Nancy Pelosi to step aside for a younger generation. I bought this book after reading an excerpt of it - and I am glad that I did. After reading the book, Nancy Pelosi is the person that the Democrats need to be Speaker of the House right now.
Why the change of my opinion? The book focuses on Pelosi's tenure in the House. Through this process, it was educational to me about the inner workings of the House - the counting of the votes; the adding things to a bill to get a vote, etc. Yes, I knew those things happened, but reading about them at key points in time (including during the W. years), made me realize how under-appreciated legislative skills are. Nancy is a very skillful politician, and savvy at elections.
Lastly, as a woman, Pelosi's accomplishments are tremendous, but she is underappreciated. I am glad I had the opportunity to lean more about Pelosi.

Geraldine O'farrell: This books throws a light on the workings of the American government wonderfully, however after reading it you do wonder how they ever get things accomplished. Nancy Pelosi is an inspiring figure but this book does not gloss over her humanity and its subsequent failings

Luis Diaz: Ball has an excellent voice and perspective, there are times when I wanted more details and to get more in the weeds but overall it was incredibly readable and I understand that most readers probably didn’t want more inside baseball. At moments I did wonder about what the rebuttals would be from some of the other people in depicted in the book and it does seem like Ball is in Pelosi’s corner but I still felt like the book was accurate and factual.
