Linda N.: The product does run true to the measurements quoted. That being said, for no product but this one does a 26-lb dog wear an XL (but that is the size that fits my 26 lb dog perfectly)! The outer layer is mesh-like (i.e., perforated), but the inner layer is solid - I would not describe it as particularly "breathable," but it definitely has a soft, comfortable feel. It works well for my 6-year old dog. The only cautionary note I would offer is that if you have a really strong dog (although not sure that can happen with the sizing of this product), I would recommend you seek out a product made from a stronger material, with sturdier straps.

Marcus T.: Bought two harnesses, one for each of our cats. The sizing guide image said to take neck and chest measurements and add 1 to 2 inches. DON'T DO IT.
Adding the extra 1" to 2" convinced us to buy a Medium instead of Small. Both were too large for our cats. Both cats managed to get their arms stuck through the neck opening while fussing with it.
Will be returning and buying the correct size.

Update: we returned the harness and re-ordered a size down. The harnesses fit great! Our cats are taking their time getting used to them, but they feel very secure and our cats haven't managed to squirm their way out of them yet. Just be sure you DO NOT add the 1-2" as the sizing guide suggests.

Jody Harris: I am EXTREMELY impressed with the soft silky fabric... the dogs took to them instantly (with the exception to the one that never takes to anything... typical shakey chihuahua! LOL). The colors are a dead match to what you see on site... a rareity! They seem super sturdy... and I definately recommend them. The measurements they give you are dead on...! I snagged these up for 3 bucks a piece and am sooooo glad I did!
UPDATE... 2/18/14... Warning.... if your dog is not accustomed to harnesses, or is not the walking dog type... these are NOT recommended... they work great on one dog I have, who loves to be walked, and listens, so fear of him taking off is not an issue... whereas my other dog is not a walking dog... she freaks out and wants nothing more than to get out of the deathtrap I so lovingly tricked her to put on... they are so silky soft, it has a disadvantage... they can slide right out of them.

Harness is sturdy, and built for comfort.
Now I can walk him up and down the hallway of my apartment building until he gets bored (which is usually about 5 minutes). A couple of weeks, and he wants to patrol the hallway again. With the harness, I feel I can do so safely.
