Carl: This sweater is well made and stretchy and the neck helps keep him warm. It has been washed a few times, not dried in dryer, and has held up well except for pilling. That's why I gave it 4 stars but overall I would purchase another from Chilly Dog. My dog is 40 lbs with muscular chest and small hips and this fits him and stays on.

At first I felt like it brought me more joy than my dog. BUT!!! What really blew me away was on a cloudy day, wasn’t supposed to rain, but it poured. My raincoat failed me, however, this sweater kept the doggo DRY! (on the body, the hood doesn’t quite stay) And when I took it off for cleaning, it’s dry on the inside still after 1.5 hrs of walking on muddy trails.
I know wool is supposed to be water & soil repellant but didn’t expect it to work THIS well. Easy hand wash, lay dry. Dirty came right off after a few rinses.
My friends are getting them too. Amazing. My dog is short-haired and love it. Doesn’t seem itchy at all. Happy to wear it day and night. It’s so cute.
Minor flaws:
1. It’s handmade, so the size could vary quite a bit. I bought another style in large and fits funny on him vs. this one in large fits perfectly.
2. It could be tight on the chest and shoulder but it stretches out after a day.

CAT123: I bought two of these for my two dogs. Very thick and warm for real cold days. Styled like a fisherman's sweater which is a thick knit. My dogs wear their sweater under a thin nylon coat because they run through bushes off-leash and the coat keeps the sweater from being snagged. This sweater is thick and makes the outer shell snug so I probably should have bought a different style from the same manufacturer. So if this is a layer under a harness or other protective item, consider if the outer layer will still fit or if you'd be better off with a different wool style. The wool is a much better option than nylon/poly sweaters available in pet stores - warmer and breathes. Handmade and sizing is inconsistent as my two sweaters in the same size were very different in actual size. Unless your dog is elderly or ill, this is definitely an outdoor cold-weather sweater (it was 19 and snowing when my dogs walked in their sweaters this morning). I would not suggest using it in a heated house or you could over-heat most dogs. Excellent product and unusual to find a dog sweater in a 100% wool fabric.

Brenn: I love this sweater! I love that it is a natural fiber (wool) ,dyed with organic plant dyes and is fair trade certified. It is warm and covers my dog well. I have a 9 1/2 pound mini schnauzer and the size "small" fits him perfectly. He measures 12 inches from the base of his neck to the base of his tail and his girth at his chest is just over 18 inches. The sweater covers him just down to the base of his tail and I roll the neck down to make a turtle neck and that makes the length perfect for him.
The sweater is very well made and has a pronounced cut out on the underside so it doesn't get wet at all when he's out to "do his business". This Maine winter has been cold and he has worn the sweater in the house on some days in between trips outside and doesn't appear to be too hot in it. I keep my house at between 68 and 70 degrees during the day. I do take it off him at night for sleeping.The cut outs for the front legs are perfect, also. They are longish and narrow so that they let him move freely but still keep him covered. As the weather warms up(finally!), this sweater will be too warm. I wish it was available in cotton or a lighter weight blend for spring and early fall. My...
