The Orion Motor Tech R134a Can Tap is the perfect tool for repairing and recharging your Automotive air conditioning system. This puncture-style dispenser features a tank adapter for 1/4" and 1/2" AC charging hoses, making it compatible with a wide range of vehicles. It is made of high-quality brass, which makes it rust, water, and corrosion resistant. The thick rubber rings provide air-tight seals, preventing any leakage. Plus, the easy-to-use tap allows for quick and simple recharging of the coolant.Greentre: My OEM valve broke while attaching the adapter to use my gauges. It was a cheap two-piece, aluminum valve that barely had threads. This is a solid one-piece cast brass valve that has the correct fitting to connect to the gauge set. I recommend it and if this gets caught in a nuclear holocaust and has to be replaced, I'll get this one again.

Doglovin: Works as it should. Just remember...turning the knob LEFT closes the valve, and RIGHT opens the valve. This is due to the center piece that pushes down on the top of the r134a can to break the seal. BE SURE the valve in turned all the way to the LEFT before screwing it onto the top of the r134a can!

TS: This is a nicely made brass valve, and I have no complaints about it. There were no burrs or defects.
BUT, the manufacturers of the refrigerant cans are now making the cans so you can take off the valve without all the remaining refrigerant coming out. There is a little silicone flap seal in the can, and the valve has to push that inward for the refrigerant to flow. THIS ONE DOES NOT WORK ON SELF-SEALING CANS. That's not the seller or manufacturer's fault, because they make it clear that this is for puncture-type cans. But they do not work on the self-sealing cans. For the self-sealing cans you need a valve that opens the seal with a FLAT tip, not a pointed one. If you use this on a self-sealing can no refrigerant will flow. The valves for self-sealing cans look almost exactly like this one, but with a flat plunger, not a pointed one. They're available here as well for the same price.

Roger Foster: seems good quality, have not needed to use it yet as my current cans are the self sealing valve type but I wanted it for my kit, should I ever need it.

A I: I needed a tap to go along with the vacuum pump/manifold gauge set I got. This wasn't the right type. This was the same type that was included with the manifold gauges. Most new AC cans are self sealing which this does not work with. It's my fault for not realizing that. Otherwise I'm sure it probably would have worked just fine

ben: I used this recently to do a full air conditioning recharge on a family member's 05 Escape and it worked like a charm - no leaky. 👍
Also, you will most likely require the adapter that comes with it, as I did. So, if you don't buy this item, make sure you get one with an adapter if you aren't sure you will need it because you most likely will.

Kelvin (Toby) Greschner: Extremely handy device that lets you add coolant from a can without worrying about it spraying all over like the cheaper versions of these devices that sometimes come with the coolant. Very handy, works great, and great price.
