Jon Ellison: This will be the fifth application on my Bermuda sod over a span of two years. The sod was laid directly on Georgia red clay by the contractor, so it definitely needs some help. After the last application last August, I had a lot of mushrooms pop up. I assume that's a good sign that it is working, but it was a pain keeping the puppy from eating them. I've delayed auto-delivery several times, so it's been a year since the last application.

It is a bit messy if you accidentally over-broadcast onto concrete sidewalks, driveways or patios.

The price has increased by about $10 since last summer's delivery. I'm not too happy about the cost, so I hope I'll eventually see results.

cassandra davila: This product has worked very well for my soil, I've seen the difference in color, growth throughout the entire carpet. Although a little pricey for the amount/contents in the bag, I've got no complaints todate. Thanks!

Bookworm: Living in the South, our yard has mostly red clay. After only two applications of Humichar, I can already tell the difference. The bermuda grass now can spread over the bare spots making the grass look thicker.

RebeccaRebecca: This is long, BUT READ THIS before wasting your money on other products.

I've been attempting to fix my turf since 2021, when I moved into my new home. I initially hired a lawn service, but the success was short-lived.

Last fall, I took matters into my own hands by dethatching, scarifying, and overseeding. After minimal success with germination (I took all the steps to protect the seeds and keep them moist), my lawn came up thin and light green in the spring. Despite heavy rains, my soil was still hard as a rock. My soil pH was high, so I bought Mag-I-Cal to lower the pH. I also bought Love Your Soil to loosen the hard clay. Those also had short-lived success. I knew my soil was the problem. The pH came down slightly, but the soil remained compact. I realized that years of fertilizer and over-irrigation by the previous owners had probably built a carbon deficiency and sodium chloride concentration. I read up on this product. It's everything you need to condition your soil on a more permanent basis. The charred component makes space for healthy microbes and the humic component feeds the microbes.
