Kim (please be kind to animals): These cherries are very good and tart. No sugar added. They are about the size of raisins. I wish they were bigger. I add them to a quart size(?) plain or vanilla low fat yogurt and after mixing it up, I freeze it in smaller containers. First I soak a 1 cup of dried cherries in warm water for about a 1/2 hour or until they are soft because they would be too hard to eat frozen as is. (FYI, they don't look pretty after doing this, but who cares, I'm eating them and not looking at them.) I reserve the water/juice to drink later. By soaking and draining them they are more flavorful and softer to eat in my yogurt. I add chopped up pecans or walnuts as well. I have eaten my mixture with out freezing and I still think the cherries are better soaked. It makes a pretty good dessert. I have already ordered another bag.

6/30/16 I have ordered my 7th bag or maybe 8th bag of these cherries. I keep them double bagged in the fridge. From the 1st bag to the 5th bag they are the same quality and there is hardly any oil. Even after soaking them in warm water there is very little oily residue. I have 2 unopened bags in the fridge so I don't run out.

Russell Fanelli: These tart cherries just went back on sale on Amazon after being unavailable for a long time. To get the cherries I called Rowley's Red Barn in Utah where the cherries are processed. The gentleman I spoke with was most friendly and helpful. I bought two bags of cherries from him, which arrived at my door a few days later.

Now, about the cherries themselves. They are packaged in a plastic bag which is prominently labelled, No Added Sugar. The only ingredients are tart cherries and sunflower oil. We know tart cherries are good for us, which is one of the reasons we go out of our way to buy them, but what about sunflower oil? Not so good. It is high in omega six fatty acids which, unfortunately, we already get too much of in our diet. We want more omega 3 fatty acids and less omega six. The purpose of these oils is to keep the cherries from sticking together and they succeed reasonably well in doing that.

I am now looking carefully at a small pile of the cherries on my desk next to the keyboard for this computer. They look exactly like raisins; that is, small, dark, and shriveled up. Now I am chewing them and they taste like a dry, tart cherry, which I like. I put the...

Athena8000: This is a generous sized bag of high quality dried tart montmorency cherries. Be careful if you are buying dried cherries for their health benefits, such as pain relief and anti-inflammation. Not all cherries are the same. Montmorency tart cherries are the ones to get for those benefits you hear and read about in the media. Most of the dried tart cherries I've found have added sugar. The cherries already contain their natural sugars, so the last thing a person needs is added sugar, especially if you are a health-conscious consumer. I was very happy with these. You can put them on oatmeal or into your cereal or trail mix. You can also use them for baking. They are very similar to raisins, but in my opinion, they taste better than raisins. The taste very tart and sweet. The bag is resealable. I keep mine in the refrigerator during the warmer weather months. But you don't need to refrigerate them. Just keep them in a cool, dry place. I've also tried tart cherry liquid concentrates and frozen tart cherries. I think the dried cherries are more convenient and this particular brand and size is a good value. There are no preservatives listed in the ingredients. So that's a plus.
