NeysaZ: I will admit I am not much of a country music fan, but Willie has been one of the few that I do enjoy. This book is a memoir and an instruction on how to live a good life. I truly enjoyed it, and was especially taken with how he expressed his feelings about guns… I couldn’t have said it better. Bravo, Willie, and thank you for a good read.

John Weatherbie: Who doesn't love Willie Nelson? This is a fun, easy read with musings and stories from Willie. This is not really any sort of autobiography, but more a disjointed collection of tidbits here and there. Would recommend to any fans

B. Michel: The first line is about a baby born in a manger... and that about sums Willie up.
Willie isn't as much a story writer as a music and lyrics writer. He's entertaining and enlightening and his life is most certainly eye-opening ~ but this and the Tao are very much the same book with the exception of family inserts in this one. The bottom line is that at no point in time do you every dislike anything Willie... but be prepared for his 'Dad jokes' ~ some are red hot but most... well you know.
I think I was looking for more road stories. More about the traveling bus and the places he's played. There are some tales but not enough for the shenanigans that Willie and his band mustered up. I wanted more Highwaymen and more of that brotherhood. I wanted more skin and bones and yet who is closer than his family? I wanted more Sister Bobbie because she's got that Mona Lisa smile that says it all. But I heard from the kids and from his wife and a gentle smattering of stories of the olden days.
Like so many of his readers, I have travelled many miles to go see Willie and have never been disappointed. I worked in Lake Tahoe and remember when the bus would roll into town and...

Phyllis Crowe: Even if you are not a Willy Nelson, or country music, fan, you should read this book. It's probably one of the most disjointed books I have ever read, so it's not your conventional read, but it's still worth the time spent. I was constantly surprised, amused, entertained, and sometimes even caught myself nodding in agreement at the wacky, but grounded, wisdom & wit. I personally enjoyed it more in snatches, rather than as a sit-down-and-read-me book.

Gabriel D: More than an autobiography, the reader will find in "Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die" anechdotes and other stories that are additions to his previous bio-books " Willie: An Autobiography ", " The Facts of Life: and Other Dirty Jokes " and " The Tao of Willie: A Guide to the Happiness in Your Heart ". For those who don't know much about Nelson's life, "Willie: an Autobiography" or Joe Nick Patoski's (highly recommended) " Willie Nelson: An Epic Life " would be the right place to start. A new reader will find "Roll Me Up" disorganized, and probably will think that it is just a collection of randomly written thoughts.
That being said, coming from a HUGE WILLIE NELSON FAN (needless to say, this paragraph might be highly biased), the book offers as usual interesting stories and thoughts of the wise Red Headed Stranger. Besides of Willie's side of the story, the book is complemeted by comments of The Family. A vast term in Willie's world, "The Family" is composed by his blood family and of course, his musical and road family.
As I said before, it can be taken easily as an update to those previous bios, all of them letting us know that Shotgun Willie is still on the...
