María Gpe Calleja: Es un relato del proceso de Liberia a través de la experiencia de Leymah. Su historia hace reconocer que el papel de la mujer es el de la acogida y la amistad, fuerzas de una comunidad.

Agnes Struik: Mighty Be Our Power not only portrays the power of women when they are united in a cause, but also shows the difficulty, the pitfalls, the complications and the inextricable impact on relationships and family for those dedicated to the struggle for peace. I appreciated Leymah Gbowee's honesty about the convoluted complexity of building a peace network in such a fractured and broken world, but also how she vividly recounts the strength, resilience, determination and courage of women that made and make peace possible. This book is an inspiration for everyone anywhere to take a stand for peace and justice.

Laura: Libro impressionante per la lucidità delle descrizioni e per l'incredibile lavoro che la scrittrice è riuscita a svolgere in condizioni come minimo proibitive. Di grande ispirazione

Dr. ELYAS F.ISAACS; PHD, PHD, DPH, DDIV, DCJC, MD: An inspiring, motivating, and uplifting book recounting some of Liberia's worst and most troubling days. Leymah who I am honored to call friend, represents a brave and supremely confident woman who through her miraculous personal power and remarkable ability simply to survive leads us all to a level of joyous love and understanding simply by reading her words.

In her work, MIGHTY BE OUR POWERS, Leymsh begins with first, suffering, second facing tragedy and disasters, and finally by marshalling her strength of will, outstanding intelligence, overwhelming ability to lead and inspire others, and stand firm while others waver shows how one single woman formed a network of like-minded friends and put an end to dictatorship and oppression and led her homeland, Liberia, into the dawn of a new day of freedom and safety.

Gayatri G.: A great book to read - very inspirational.

Susan: I read this book shortly after it was published, in the autumn of 2011, soon after the author, Leymah Gbowee, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. I founded her story wrenching and inspirational. Some parts, in which she describes atrocities and the sufferings of herself and others, are difficult to read. In this way, her book calls to mind The Good Women of China: Hidden Voices by Xinran. Leymah Gbowee is unstintingly honest about herself and her own frailties. As her story continues, her personal growth and the success of her women's movement is triumphant and inspirational..

I immediately thought of my book group. It was our selection for our January, 2013, session, and all of us are enthusiastic about this book. We were dismayed to find that our county library system here in Northern New Jersey has only 3 copies. I am at a loss to account for this. The author is articulate, she went on talk shows, Reader's Digest published an excerpt (where I first encountered it), and hey, she just won the Nobel Peace Prize! I purchased a second copy for others to borrow, and I will donate it to the library when they have finished with it.

I also obtained the documentary about her...

Joanne Bergeson: Gbowee's story is the story of a Liberian woman, but it is also the story of us all. We must stand TOGETHER against the anger and RAGES of War which destroys our gentle lives, our homes, the very infrastructure of our cities and most painful of all: our husbands and children. Gbowee choose to stand and cry out in the manner of Ghandi. Her earnestness and furor brings many women after her. Hundreds wear white tee-shirts and sit in front of the Parliament Building until the men who are meeting are convinced they want PEACE. She has now become a world leader, but she sacrifed her two husbands and even the privilege of raising her children to this cause. It nearly destroyed her life. She learned and then taught others so much about Conflict Resolution. When someone has injured another a bond is created that must then be resolved: revenge, death, forgiveness, before the relationship can continue to function. A great read. P.S. Charles Taylor the instigator of that war was just recently tried in The Hague and sentenced to 50 years in prison.

MarvelousMarla: In a nation marred by violence, poverty and hopelessness, it would have been easy for Leymah Gbowee to just go about her days like so many others who were just trying to survive. A single mother of 4 and victim of an abusive relationship, she definitely had reasons to feel sorry for herself, but she does not do this. Liberia was in the midst of an intractable civil war. Child soldiers, rape and murder were prevalent and many people were displaced from their homes.

Despite her personal problems, Leymah launches a movement uniting Liberian women from various tribes, ethnic groups, classes and religions to demand an end to the fighting. The author was fortunate in that she learned about and became a part of groups that were already established, but she uses the sheer force of her will to expand the reach of these groups and to inspire her countrywomen to sit in and march for peace.

It was not easy, and those brave woman risked their very lives defying Charles Taylor and the rebel fighters. They were just tired of living in fear and watching their children suffer. They wore white and carried signs demanding an end to the fighting, and became known as "The Peace...
