Med Spec ASO Ankle Stabilizer Brace for Injury Prevention and Recovery

Mel C.: Had back surgery a couple of years ago, which resulted in some ankle weakness (ankle wants to roll inward). Local foot doctor sold me an "Advantage" brace by "Elite Orthopedics", which I wore for several months. It was easy to put on and provided the needed stability. But it always created folds in the brace material around my foot which would pinch and abrade against my skin when shoved into a shoe. Eventually it just caused a lot of pain in the ball of my ankle and made it impossible to continue to use. The sides of the brace have a band of very stiff material, and it just rubs against the ball of my ankle relentlessly. So, I gambled on this ASO brace, and what a difference! When I wear this brace, I never even think about it being on my foot. It causes me no discomfort at all and provides a great amount of stability to my ankle. Night and day compared to the Elite brace. The ASO brace takes a little longer to put on and take off since it is laced, but it is worth the minor inconvenience to get a much more comfortable experience. Thank you so much to ASO! Do not do anything to "IMPROVE" this brace in the future, I want to buy the same one when this one wears out.

Dr. PaulDr. Paul: As I continue to recover from a bad sprain I’m now using this Med Spec ASO Ankle Stabilizer In oder to allow me to walk while protected and stable, finding them to be comfortable and protective.

After my injuries my wife ordered this Med Spec ASO Ankle Stabilizer along with a boot from Amazon to help me heal. In both cases we are very happy with our choices. They arrived the next day thanks for Amazon Prime, and both have worked well for me.

A few weeks ago I took a bad hit, spraining my right ankle and nailing my left knee (don’t ask). As I’ve recovered I’ve had to deal with a bruised foot, the sprain, and needing to support one, while not bothering the other. At this point I continue to have swelling in the ankle, deep bruising in the foot and ankle, but the need to get up and around. I’m finding this Med Spec ASO Ankle Stabilizer to be giving me the support I need, but without pain to the deep bruising.

Because of the nature of my injuries I’ve been unable to actually put this Med Spec ASO Ankle Stabilizer or my previous boot on by myself. We cannot tell if this is a one person job, but throughout it’s had to be a job I cannot do from my...

Jim W: I've been buying ASO ankle braces for 15 years.
It's probably the most reliable and supportive brace in the market for all people - those who want support after an injury, those who want to replicate medical tape without the mess, those who need some extra arch support, those who are playing through injury.

When they first became widely available on Amazon, it was great, they could be had for as little as $21.
But in the post-covid world a few things have happened:
1) They got a lot more expensive. Seems to be found for closer to $30 now
2) The product build/quality control is now terrible.

For the 2nd point let me explain.
I typically use these braces 3-4x per week for tennis and basketball, ranging from 1-2 hours a session.
In the past, each brace would probably last me close to a year before the tightness of the straps started to wane due to wear and tear, they just wouldn't lock as tight and you could tell your ankle could move quite a bit more.

There were a few odd things about my last pair.
First, even when brand new, they would shed.

Dennis B.: Been struggling with ankle problems A LOT. These replace all the taping I have to do. They are comfortable. They give plenty of support. They are easy to clean.

So far, absolutely recommend. I am back at playing football 4 times a week after month and month of physio, the braces are now making the important difference.

Loreto: Muy buen artículo, practico voleibol y da muy buen soporte lateral sin incomodidad. Permite la rehabilitación de tu tobillo si has sufrido algún esguince. Funciona para ambos tobillos. Ideal para tenis de bota o sin bota. El ajuste es perfecto y cómodo. El material se ve resistente y es fácil de lavar. Muy recomendable y más si practicas voleibol.

Lincoln County MT: Update: Years later these are still great braces. I machine wash them and air dry them. I have enough PAIRS as I use on both feet together at the same time. I used to just use on my problem foot but turns out in my case after physical therapy identified problems I was having with other foot and leg through hip was created because of the YEARS of extra supporting with the good side. Really who knew? I didn't.

Well made compared to similar items others sell that look a lot like this brand. This comes in two styles one with side stablizers or stays and this one without. I bought this one without because my foot problem which has lead to an ankle problem has as much to do with the foot than it does the ankle itself. I don't roll my ankles as much as they are in a lot of pain due to foot surgery gone wrong in 2010. That led to the otuside arch failing and numbness and pain from ankle to end of foot on that side that has never improved. This brace definitely HELPS !!! so why not 5 stars as in according to Amazon LOVE IT. I hate it...just having to put the dang thing on is annoying. LOL. I find taking it off even more annoying.
