CHRISTOPHER L. WOODRUFF: If you are on the fence, just buy it. I love mine. It has become my grab and use drill for all but the most demanding tasks which I have a larger drill for.
Pros: Light, small, powerful, charge life is unreal from such a compact battery, comes with two batteries which is total overkill for my usage level, charges super fast, battery charge level indicator lights, simple operation, brushless motor seems to take this thing to another level, ergonomic, stands up nicely on the battery, feels solid and durable...where do I stop?
Minor quibbles: light only illuminates your drilling point if you are using a long drill bit. Otherwise it’s in the shadow of the chuck. It’s a lot of clutch turning to go from torque setting 1 to locked, handle seems longer than it needs to be.

Paul Hirata: Great cordless drill kit for me. I had a 18v DeWalt drill but it was too heavy and clumsy to hold. This drill is perfect, not too heavy, not too light but lots of torque for small jobs and batteries last a long time as long as your not using it all day. It's small enough to fit into tight places and light is great for under-cabinet work or in dark corners. I like the gauge on each battery pack that shows you how much power is left until recharge time.
For intermittent home or shop use I would highly recommend it. For more heavier or prolong use I would go with a higher voltage unit, either way IMHO Makita is the best.

DFHOMEAMZ: WOW! What can I say, this drill is absolutely amazing and Makita has hit the ball out of the park with this small 12 volt drill! I have owed most of the 12 volt drills to date and have to say I have found my favorite! The moment I began using this drill I fell in love with it's capabilities. This drill feels so good in your hand, very light weight, and compact size. I find myself reaching for this drill over my bigger 18v drills even when driving or drilling larger fasteners and holes, it just is so wonderful to use! You will be amazed at the power and battery life of this drill, don't let the size fool you! These small 2.0ah batteries seem to just never die! The chuck holds bits extremely well with no wobble. The battery slides in with no movement. The fit and finish and the build quality is top notch! Way to go Makita, you have a real winner here!

John Henry: Purchased this to drive wood screws in tight quarters. With my old fashioned DeWalt 18 volt drill that is capable of driving 3/8" lag bolts into bois d'arc posts, I was constantly in my own way in a flooring and stair building project. This drill/driver has more than enough power to drive any wood screw you will encounter and can drill holes with the best of them. It is light and short and amazingly powerful for a 12 volt tool. Short and light is good when sitting on the floor attaching oak baseboard or up a ladder attaching paneling or any other time. The only downside for me is that the very bright LED light casts a shadow on the target of drill or screw. Still, when in a dark corner, one can spot the target before starting the drill bit or screw with the whole apparatus slanted away from the target, hold the screw or drill in place, bring the tool back to position and drill or screw in the dark. Haven't missed yet. I expect long use from this well made tool. The carrying case accommodates drill, batteries, battery charger and a few bits . Makita cases all seem to be well designed and heavily constructed with secure closures. I have come to greatly...

Jay R.: This ultra-compact 12V driver-drill was purchased on Prime Day at a 25% discount and when combined with the Amazon.com VISA card promotion, was not much more than a set of 12V Max CXT 2.0 Ah batteries. (In fact, this applies to the other Makita 12V Max CXT tools in the $100 - $120 price range... it's almost like getting the tool, charger and case for free.)

Because of it's brushless design, the battery life of the Makita FD07 is superb when compared to its brushed 12V Max CXT cousins, the FD05 / FD06. For example, after using the FD06 (driving #9 x 1" wood screws) and FD07 (drilling 1/4" holes for fluted dowels) together on a recent door hinge retrofit project, the FD07 battery lasted about 1.5 times longer than the FD06. Besides the greater battery life, other primary strengths of the FD07 are:
- More powerful, higher torque than FD05 brushed model
- Very compact, light weight
- Unmatched balance and ergonomics
- New battery design allows tool to be free-standing, optional 4.0 Ah battery

While having a maximum torque of 280 in-lb and 1500 rpm top speed, the only drawback to the FD07 is that it should have a little more speed to...
