Major General Smedley D. Butler's Classic Antiwar Book: War Is a Racket

Delmico Collins: General Smedley Butler has outlined the criteria for a ideological issue that has continued to today. Our system has provided the perfect environment for the use of war as a means to enrich the few at the expense of the many. While some may see this as a partisan political treatise he carefully explains how this is an issue that affects everyone no matter their station in life. I recommend that everyone read this book and learn as much about the general and what led him to write this book.

Gabriel Doe: This book, although aged as it may be, tells of a truth unchanged by time, and should not fall on deaf ears otherwise civilization will always be forced to repeat the same evils over and over again. General Smedley even went so far as to offer solutions to preventing another war by holding political parties, bankers, and investors of wars personally accountable by having them make similar sacrifices expected of the young men and women put in harms way just to profit so few. War is indeed a racket!

kozmikrokker: If we lived in in a country that wasn't ruled by a deep state dictatorship, and patriots worked at the highest levels of government who stood for the people and viewed the government with extreme skepticism and suspicion as our founders did and recommended that we do, this would be required reading in schools. The Day of Infamy is another such book that every American should read and own and show their children and anyone else they can. There are other books too, but these two should be two of the first in a patriot's library.

hiredkiller: Medley Butler is the epitome of macho but pulls no punches about the senseless waste of war. He is no peace-chair warrior, he is a hero. My Dad gave me this book was I was being sent to Vietnam. As a Korean Veteran he wanted me to understand that my country was worth fighting for but profits for DuPont were not. He begged me to go to Canada. I was not old enough to vote when I was Drafted and I knew if I went to Canada I would never have that privilege. I thought that right was worth risking my life for, I was wrong.

Tom 54: First of all...this is not a book. It is an article, readable within one hour.
The writer talks of his disenchantment with the money making war profiteers...he writes circa 1932, about the terrible aftermath of WW 1.

Interestingly,although he warns of Herr Hitler, at this time Mussolini was seen as the largest danger to peace.

The "book" majors on the injustices of the common man being used as a pawn in the constant money making games of the rich bankers and others of their ilk....No changes to our times at all.

Interesting,but do not expect a full length book....it is a short, if illuminating treatise only.

Cecille C: Everyone should read this book, ESPECIALLY those who love to accuse antiwar people of being against our own soldiers. They somehow manage to distort what is being said to suit their agenda. No one can accuse me of not knowing how it is to have a loved one join the military and be sent off to a war zone. I have had loved ones do exactly just that. War really is a racket. Both sides of any war (since time immemorial) is funded by the same people. The controllers of the wars (they control everything else) pit us against each other as they rake in billions of dollars in income from selling war machines, etc. The value of our lives, our loved ones lives, is of no consequence to them. These controllers are heartless. I cringe every time I see TV programs patronizing this long running SCAM. I do not consider our soldiers heroes. I consider them VICTIMS of this racket. Our world is in a dismal state and I have little hope we would ever get out of this state since most of the population has been dumbed down. Only a very small part of the population knows exactly what is going on. Everyone is too busy watching their sports channel, their tele novelas, etc., oblivious to the destruction...
