Austin: I use this with the big Cadillac Werner 25 foot reach telescoping ladder, which has a thickness of 3.5 inches. A lot of these fit 3 inches max. It goes on and comes off easily with wing nuts. It's sturdy and light weight.

Deux Bits: Wow! I love this thing. I'd noticed other professionals who use ladders to get onto roofs using similar setups. Every roof edge on my house has a gutter so I had to use cloth to protect the edge and getting on and off the roof was not the most comfortable activity (should it ever be?). This simple and sturdy device completely changed my experience. I was much more assured getting on and off the roof. I was slightly concerned that the arms would get in the way of stepping onto and off of the top of the ladder. Nope. Really great. The only possible knock against this is with some of the compact extending ladders you may have to remove and replace the stabilizer when compacting or extending the ladder. And yes, you could lose a wingnut. But for me, an occasional user, this slight inconvenience was worth it. I'm super happy I got it.

Jared M.: I love this product, It gives great peice of mind when I need to use my ladder, especially when I don't have someone to spot. The only issue I have with it is that it's quite inconvienent to attach and remove from the ladder, screwing and unscrewing 4 wingnuts everytime. It would be great if there were a quicker system for that but it's a pretty minor problem.

Rick: Excellent design and very sturdy. Simple to install on my extension ladder. Several inches of clearance provided from the gutters on my 12 :12 pitched metal roof. Doesn't mark the black metal roof because it has suitable rubber feet on the ends of the stabalizer bar. Don't need any assistance at all stabilizing the ladder with this device. No instability at all . Highly recommend. 10 out of 10.

House Ape: rugged easy to assemble and disassemble. Much improved ladder stability. Excellent protection for roof, gutter, and siding. I wish that I had bought one years ago. I highly recommend this product.

I carefully followed the attachment instructions to put the u-bar under the top ladder rung and on the outside of the ladder side piece so it can't slide off the top of the ladder. However, with this method, it would be possible for the u-bar (and stand-off) to slide down to the next ladder rung. I mean it's tight and feels secure, but I wonder about this. Am considering purchasing a second set of u-bars to attach around the stand-off and the top rung of the ladder. 4 stars because I think it should have an attachment to make sure the stand-off cannot go up or down.
