This product is so mentholly pungent that it has the effect of actually making my eyes burn a bit, and causing them to water.
Not sure if that’s a characteristic I want with products I apply on my face in the proximity of my eyes.

A dude: I was really hoping for a pure pine tar scent and that’s just not present.
The balm itself has a good consistency and feels good in my beard. It’s got a musky or dark scent that I do appreciate, but it’s just not pine tar.

William T. Schiffman: This is good beard balm. I haven't found a really great one yet and I've tried many. The best thing about this one is the consistency: like Goldilocks: not too loose and not too thick; it's just right. Really, you can easily scraped some off with your fingernail.

Daniel M.: Over the years and many beard products leads to knowing that their is not just one beard product for every occasion and season. I cant say that their is anything bad about this beard product. What it is- Very soft goes on as easy as a beard butter. for aesthetics I recommend applying in smaller amounts few times a day as supposed to 1 or 2 heavy uses. Medium shine. feels great on the skin, hands, elbows face etc. The smell is exactly as advertised on the back of the can, it says orange, clove, that's exactly the smell, no mystery. The smell is a bit stronger than some and I've noticed that like all brands , let the can breathe a few minutes before applying, work it into your hands, then apply, don't just glob it on your upper lip an chin. A hot water rinse refreshes your beard for the next days application easy enough. What it isn't - A balm that lasts all day it is not, It is soft as a butter, it has little hold, the smell can be stronger than you want first ,thing in the morning. The build up after 3 uses can start to look greasy. I would say that this is a better cooler weather balm, in the heat you will get out of shape faster with this stuff than with a thicker style....

Amazon Customer: I have extremely wiry facial hair. It tamed it down quite a bit, worked in nicely, smells great.
Not too odourous like some other reviews have stated. 👍🏻

A Carter: Smells great, the consistency is a bit thinner than burts bees lip balm. My woman described it as smelling a little like skittles with a bit of fir at the end to cut down on the strength of the citrus. The smell does combine very well with the cedar and fir mustache wax. Great stuff!

I stand by my earlier statement, and after using it for about a week I can now review its effects. I've bumped my rating down to 4 stars. It does well in giving a bit more control over the hair and provides fuller appearance which is wonderful. It has not been softening my beard, in fact I have noticed my beard is loosing its softness. I was using primarily coconut oil before investing in this, and since receiving it I have switched completely to the balm. It does not contain jojoba oil, or argan oil. To be clear, it does not claim to, nor am I trying to say that it does. It is my personal belief that the inclusion of a sizable portion of one or more of these oils instead of the grapeseed or especially the castor oil would be EXTREMELY beneficial. Also making coconut oil a larger portion of the recipe would help. I've noticed that not only is my beard getting rougher, the balm does not...
