AMZ-Anon: I enjoy how the author Christopher Hart simplifies the process as many others do, and most of us have probably seen before, with shapes, perspective and proportions while still allowing and encouraging the reader to develop their own style instead of just mirroring what he is doing in the book. I have several of Harts's books that I as well as 11 y/o twin son and daughter enjoy, from cartooning books to Manga and more complex character design editions. If you are the type of person that is most comfortable learning from books I highly suggest picking this up because it is definitely something that will be a welcome addition to any other art instructional and design book collection. I find that Christopher Harts's books like this one can serve and inspire from the experienced to novice artists. Lastly, it makes a cool item to share with others that show an interest in drawing, coloring and creating characters of any sort, not just cartoons.

MJZ: I have several of Chris Hart's books and am pleased with all of them. This one is my fave! It is a very comprehensive book that takes you through the process of drawing cartoons. While a beginner could get decent results, I think this book is more for those with some drawing experience. These are more like guidelines for drawing cartoons and not a step-by-step tutorial. You will find people and animals in this book along with different environments to put your characters in. He also includes ideas for drawing shoes, hands, eyes, mouths and a lot of other things. It's a great book for those with some drawing experience and a good book for beginners to work up to.
