Amazon Customer: I bought this for my friend who is a first time grandmother. She read it within a week and said she could relate to the stories inside.

Amazon Customer: A very good read but I don't feel the need to keep it. It's in such good condition that I can be proud to pass along to another "Grandmother".

A Long-time Prime Person: What I received is a hardback that has nothing on the cover at all meaning if it is on a bookshelf it is the only that you cannot tell what it is about. My wife loved it, despite no cover, but one has to know what is in it on the shelf as there was no cover. She liked it so much that she sent one to our first-time pregnant daughter-in-law's mother. I did not find out if it had a cover on it. I spoke to the seller and she said All books come without covers.

Liz526: I expected this book to be written in general terms about grandmotherhood, but it turned out to be a series of stories of different experiences of grandmothering. Fun to read and entertaining, it was quick and easy to get through. (Which is good, because I gifted it to a grandmother-to-be!)
The only thing that I didn't like was the font used on the cover: my image of grandmothers is a little more sweet and formal than that!

Emily: My husband and I gave this book to my mother as a gift when we announced our first pregnancy. It was really fun to watch her figure out and finally realize what we were trying to tell her! I glanced through the book before giving it to my mother... cute stories and overall short, quick to read chapters. My mother said that she really enjoyed reading it... Though not all the stories necessarily applied to her lifestyle, she got a good laugh out of most of the stories but especially in how she received it.

Helen: When I purchased this book, I was expecting a funny, lighthearted book that I could give my mother. I read this before I gave it to her, and I'm glad I did because I decided not to give it to her. To me, it seemed like it was written for the grandmother who doesn't really want to be one. It felt like the author was trying to make it sound funny to not want to be a grandma. It was almost offensive to the grandmother, implying she is superficial, and too busy to be bothered with grandchildren. Personally, my mother does not follow the "grandma" image, by not being a very good cook, can't sew or knit, but she loves being a grandma more than anything. The cover picture of the microwave apple pie was funny, and made me think the book would be similar to that. This would be a great book for a young grandma, maybe one who wasn't exactly expecting it, and doesn't really have mothering instincts. Which is ok, that's not a judgement, it just wasn't the book I was expecting to give to my mother

Donna: I bought this as a gift for a friend - I had read and enjoyed many of Lois Wyse's columns in the Good Houskeeping magazine over the years. I did not realize she had passed on until just recently and that we shared the same birthday (October 30th). I bought the book, hoping it would be the perfect gift for my first-time grandma friend - and I was not disappointed. Although I did not get to read all of it, what I thumbed through was well written, funny and so true. I would have liked to have read the whole book, but it was a gift and had to be send on. However, feedback from my friend is also very favourable, as much as she has read so far.

L Rainbow: Maybe my expectations were unrealistic, but I expected a serious book and this is "only" a light hearted beach read. Also I was going to give it to my mum when she became a grandmother with an intention to give her some ideas and inspiration about her new role. After I read it, I changed my mind and I passed it on to a friend- new grandmother, as a small token gift, not as a serious book from which she should/could learn something.

Zelda: This book should be handed out to every woman upon learning she is to be a grandmother! So many questions were answered and could have saved me so many difficult moments and lots of money spent on things our children would never use for their new prodigy. It was told in a humorous fashion that was heartwarming and after living so many of the situations for the past 2 1/2 years I could totatlly relate. I will tell all my friends about it and probably make it a gift for any of them becoming new grandmas. If there is a new baby in your child's future BUY THIS BOOK! and sit back for a fun read. Buy this book for your Mom when you tell her you are pregnant, it should make your life easier unless she's just a control freak.
