Amazon Customer: I was looking for a straw hat that would look good, give great protection from the sun and wouldn’t take up loads of room in my suitcase. I’ve never had a foldable one before and didn’t know how well it would bounce back after being folded and having a lot of clothes on top in my case. I shouldn’t have worried as it looks great! It’s comfortable to wear and it well made. The brim is very big which is exactly as shown.

Sylvie: This is a great summer day hat. Just the right size for walking around! It’s not a beach hat if you are sun sensitive because the brim isn’t large enough. But it’s a very well made, nice hat for everyday!

Susan L LollmanSusan L Lollman: I bought this hat to have shade for my face and neck while in costume at renaissance fair this year as the sun is brutal! I was hoping the cord around the too would come iff but it is glued down. I think i could get it off without hurting the hat, maybe even heat it and see if that will help. I did arrived rolled in a way there are no creases i have to worry about! The adjustment strap in side is nice. The chin strap thing i do wish was better matches to the hats style. I’m going to replace it with black ribbon. Will give update on its wear in a couple weeks. Not as tightly woven as i had hoped, but should work fine.

Susan: I ordered a specific style and did not get one that resembles any picture shown. The shape of the hat is similar, although it has an odd shape due to how it was packaged and can't be made good. It comes with a chin strap with strange ends like shoelaces, and I've no idea how to attach it. I also ordered a design with plain black rope on the top (style C - sky blue), and I have a fancy rope with pearls on either end, not to my taste at all, and again I have no idea how to put it on. It doesn't seem to fit the hat. Such a shame, it is a good size and should have been a good purchase. However, not getting what I ordered and then having no instructions as to how things fit on it, well it's basically pretty useless. Exasperating after waiting over 3 weeks for it.

SUN PROTECTION: Pretty good! In extreme sun it under performs, in very very bright sun I was surprised how well it did, but it's never better than my UV umbrella
- *LUX METER TEST EXPLANATION*: test performed standing, facing sun. DIRECT SUN = no obstruction of meter, HAT SHADE = lux meter still pointing towards sun but in the shade of the brim of the hat (so holding by my neck - not pointing through the hat, just the shade from the hat), HAT SHADE NEAR TOP = lux meter still in shade of hat but very close to where brim meets middle (the most densely woven region), UV UMBRELLA = same position but in shade of umbrella, TREE SHADE= self explanatory*
- As you can see (pics) there are many holes that allow sun to hit face, they're not major but don't rely solely on this to keep your face healthy.
- Has a wide coverage area, shading your chest (unless you're looking upwards, obviously) and some of your shoulders. Importantly, it shields your...
