Kohler K-5827-0 Whitehaven Farmhouse Single-Bowl Undermount Sink with Self-Trimming Design

Berni 2020: The sink arrived with a small scratch on the top of the divider. Very disappointing considering the price. I could not return, because the installers were chomping at the bit to install. All in all, I purchased 5 products from Kohler and all have issues. Not worth the extra price.

BaronBaron: We picked this sink during a makeover due to the self-trimming feature and it is perfect! We did no cutting on the cabinets and fit perfectly above the bottom doors. I fit will say if you are installing granite with a Moen industrial type faucet, do not use the template that comes with the sink. Or at the very least make sure you get cutout dimensions correct. Our granite installers did not want the spec sheet for the faucet, soap dispenser or glasswasher only the Kolher cutout. The faucet and soap dispenser distance over the sink turned out fine. The soap dispenser could have been a little further over the sink. The glasswasher is not even close! Our work around was to install a sheet of silicone under the lip. The sink is very sturdy and heavy. It sits a little lower or deeper in the cabinet. This is not a problem at all. I get asked if I have to bend over more to do the dishes and no, I do not. I have not put any "sink protectors" in the bottom and so far no problems with pans scaring. The only issue if you can call it that is splashing water and the smaller side of the sink. Amazon Customer: Love the look of this apron sink. It truly is the jewel of our kitchen Reno but it does take quite a bit of maintence keeping it looking white. Baking soda and lemon juice is the trick. Make a paste and scrub away any stains or discolouration with ease. Keeps this sink looking new and beautiful.

AM_Buyer: After reading the previous post we were weary about ordering online bur decided to give it a try.

After a long wait for the shipping we were really excited when it arrive.
The sink was overly protected and we could see why the sink weights a lot so be very careful when lifting it, after an initial inspection it was all in excellent condition.
After our new cabinet was custom made specifically for the sink it was installed and has been the talk of from our guests ever since.

The size was perfect for our kitchen, if we would have gone bigger it would have been to much and if we had gone smaller it would have been too small.

Snubnosed in AlphaSnubnosed in Alpha: I am so glad that I gave in to my wife's wishes to install an apron front sink, and even more glad that I chose this one.

This fits perfectly in a standard base cabinet. The width measurements match perfectly: if you have a 36 inch base cabinet you want the 36 inch sink; 33 inch base calls for 33 inch sink; and 30 to 30. This is important, because you will get conflicting information on this from both reviews and some more general installation videos out there.

I was VERY timid about cutting out the face of the cabinet, and, frankly, my first cut looked like it had been done by a 3-year-old. Happily, I discovered that the lip of the apron front extends precisely to the sides the cabinet, thus covering my amateurish work. And it completely covers where the holes for the false drawers were.

The short apron is made for standard, contemporary base cabinets--such as ours, with double false drawers on the front. Double-check the height from the top of the cabinet to the top of the cabinet doors to be sure that there is room for them to swing open under the apron.

john k: If you buy this sink make sure to thoroughly inspect every inch for damage as soon as it arrives. When mine arrived, the box looked fine and after opening everything appeared perfect. My kitchen reno was delayed for several months and when I was finally about to install, and took the sink completely out of the box, I then noticed that the bottom corner of the front sink face was broken off. It was visibly hidden by the Styrofoam corner “protector”. The sink never mover an inch from when it was first delivered. Now it’s far to late for a return and I’m stuck with a $1000 paperweight. So learn from my mistake and take the sink completely out of the box and inspect. The sink itself is beautiful however but it really needs better packaging.

Amazonia: OK, Amazon; You are due a Review!!!
I bought this sink in November, the first purchase in what has been a 5 month re-model, and it just went in last week. Until then, except for a quick inspection for damage when it arrived, it has sat in the garage. Only now can I write a review.
“STUNNING!” Which is what I expected from KOHLER, but I mean REALLY stunning! First, it’s a True White; no blue, green, bone or gold cast, which some whites have. It has that Kohler glow to it under light, and I even love their logo plate. But what hooked me on this model was the self-trimming Apron front. Workmanship is NOT always what it should be and I knew this style would hide any cutting sins from my installers, and it does. It gives a remarkable and finished look to the entire sink area. It has that substantial “ring” when you knock on it that only enamel-over-iron does, and though I worried about buying the 30” for my small kitchen, and whether it would be large enough, it absolutely is! (BTW: look on Amazon for the silicon roll-up dish drainer racks. BRILLIANT!)
A tip if you buy this: A few reviewers say it isn’t necessary as this is NOT the heaviest Farm sink made, BUT!...
