Nick Roulston: I love almost everything about this stereo. I used an integration kit from idat-alink to get the functionality of my steering wheel controls which worked out amazingly well. Installed the backup camera with it as well. It is transformed my vehicle. My only complaints are the lack of wireless for Android auto and a bit of a lag in Android auto. But I don't know if that's the radio's fault. So not going to take any stars for that. Power of the amplifier is very good and sounds amazing through my new 6x9s. First decent stereo I've installed in one of my vehicles and I love it.

Ron Dow: We installed a DDX393 DD w/CD-DVD player in 2016, and it played well into 2020. Then the screen began turning "white" after being on for a while. It was obviously temperature related. After three unresponsive attempts to question Kenwood support about the problem, we decided to upgrade to the DMX706S. Looking at the backside pictures of both units, we thought that the swap would be a breeze. Disconnect all the connectors from the 393 and plug them into the 706S, turn the key, push the on button and . . . AHHHHHH, but the main connectors - you know, the one with all the speaker wires, power, and whatever - only looked the same, BUT THEY WEREN'T! One hour, one fuse, and a dozen crimp connectors later, and we turned the key, pushed the on button, and Voila! The 706S lit up, made music, and is running fine. We like everything about the unit EXCEPT the font size used for source, album, and song is big enough for a blind person to read. Therefore, only a portion of the information shows up on the screen unless we diddle with the settings to make things scroll. Come on, Kenwood! Give us the ability to change the font size so it doesn't look like Windows 3.0 era.

WB SRWB SR: Where Do I Start. This is an absolutely great head unit, buuuuut, Android Auto (AA) and Spotify do not play well together. It's really the only issue, but if you use Spotify to play music then it's a big issue. It's to bad that this is an issue, but once AA figures out what is causing the connectivity issues, this will be an absolutely fantastic experience. I say it's AA's issue because Kenwood has been here for years. Spotify has been here for years. Android Auto is the new kid on the block and it's their system thats causing the hiccups, even though they deny it or tell you it isn't something they've heard about or tell you to go through a lot of useless re-installs, battery optimizations or disabling features, nothing stops AA from disconnecting from Spotify several times before actually playing Spotify. The only thing that works is powering down the unit or disconnecting the USB cable in order to re-establish a new connection between the two. You'll probably have to do it about 5-10 times before AA finally stops disconnecting from Spotify. Once it stops disconnecting do not touch the phone for anything because that's just going to start the process over again. Everytime you...

Rob LynchRob Lynch: After reading a few of the negative comments on Amazon I decided to go to another website and view comments there. I'm happy that I did. Most comments were very positive and so there prompting me to make the purchase. This was being installed into a 2004 Toyota Tacoma. After buying the wire harness, I took the brackets from the old head unit and popped in the Kenwood. It took a little over an hour to install (I took my time). I checked out a YouTube video and found that it was super easy. Still have the stock speakers installed, but after turning on the unit, the sound was already 100% better. I do plan on a speaker upgrade soon. I do have an android phone and was worried about the CarPlay feature. I worry no more, it works flawlessly. It does help that I have a Samsung S20 fe uw and has CarPlay built in. If you are on the fence about this unit, hopefully my comment helped with your decision making.

Steven Mclellan: So far so good! I’m still trying to learn this thing but it does make my stereo system thunder. Note: I’m not using built in amps. Only signal to my amplifiers. Works and looks good.

Ross K: I finally update by system in my 2000 F350. It was pretty straight forward and lots of online videos describing how.
I guess my two biggest issues are the touch spaces for some things are kind of small but still usable. The volume buttons are buttons and are not a dial - and a dial is easier to use while driving. And yes you do adjust the volume while driving - but you do have to glance at the unit to do the volume. It is a large screen so it takes up all the room in the space my old one was and does not quite fit flush due to the design of the dash overhangs where the radio was. I have had a couple times when my iphone was not detected and carplay did not autostart. I had to shut off and reboot to get it to work. Not sure what is going on there. Does not happen every time or very often. That is why not 5 stars. Maybe a software update will fix it. But it has lots of features and is loud enough using the internal amps for me. I am the wrong person if you are asking about frequency response since I cannot hear anything over about 8kHz, but is sounds good to me.
