Dave: A bit cumbersome to assemble since the molds of the plastic bases are a bit smaller than you would expect. This helps with the sturdiness of the hook but can be tricky to fit together. The carriage bolts will not completely line up with the holes during assembly and may cause them to not tighten all the way. Make sure to hammer the screws all the way through the bases so that the square part of the carriage bolt catches the notched tube. The straps are sturdy and are well suited for these hooks. Would order again.

Bill M: First of all the parts dont fit together nicely, I had to use a hammer to get the center bolts through the bars and plastic and then it was very difficult to get the bolts to seat properly because the holes are recessed, I had to put a nut on top of the bolt and strike it very hard with a hammer to get them to seat and a few of them took several attempts and wasted a lot of time. Another big time sink with these is the packaging of the nuts and bolts, I'm pretty sure this was developed by a masochist...even with scissors or a razor knife prepare to waste up to a half an hour getting the hardware out of the plastic and then removing the excess plastic that sticks to them after you remove them.
Also I have found that the knobs used to secure them to the roof rails come loose after time, I used zip ties around them to keep them from coming loose any more and may even drill a lock pin through them instead of the zip ties...something that was never considered by the mfg.

All of that being said they look great and are pretty sturdy and the price was right.

Daniel Hosier: Was sceptical after reading the reviews however for the price I gave it a shot. I used an adjustable wrench to tighten the nuts, instructions were clear enough and assembly was pretty straight forward and simple. Time was about 30 minutes to assemble and install on my wife's 2018 Subaru Forester which now looks RAD. Sturdy enough and works as advertised, The straps were not large enough for my Sundolphin Excursion 12 ss so I purchased others that fit better not a problem. Holds my kayak with no problem for good distance at speeds of 70 +/_. DO keep your adjustable wrench in your vehicle and give these a once over after a use or two, Always check to make sure they are good and snug. I had no problem but would rather be safe than sorry. I would not hesitate to buy these again.

solosolo: I bought this product for my Toyota Venza 2013. Because I bought two kayaks and needed a loading rack. I have to buy the bars separately and assembled them together. It came in pieces. It wasn’t that difficult to assemble. However, I had a hard time to keep it apart enough to load the kayak because I can’t push it to far back or to far to the front due the curved window edges won’t allow to tie the rack. The other issue was that even tightening it well, it keep sliding because it want stably sat. Also, it keep scratching the top of the car since it’s metal. So, I had to come up with my own solution. I brought a piece of tin flat rubber ( like a yoga mat) put it under each stand and tighten the screws. That way, it wasn’t sliding any more and it wasn’t scratching the car because of the cushion in between. Other than that, it’s Avery nice product for its peace and it looks classy.

J Woodall: Granted, these are not high quality racks but they serve the purpose and get the job done. I saw other review where they had to modify to assemble them or the description states two sets and they only received one but I received two sets along with the free phone carrier. The assembly was a bit difficult to put together but I was able to do so without modification. They are sturdy and I had no problems loading and securing the kayaks on top of our Dodge Durango. The straps that did come with them looked OK but I opted for some tie-downs that were longer and more secured. They can be removed from the roof rack fairly easily so since they serve the purpose I need and the stability I give them 5-stars.
