DavidDavid: I’ve had this cat bed for three years now and I couldn’t be happier with it.

The warmth is just right for my senior baby. As others have mentioned, when it first arrives, you can place a pillow in the bed to feel how warm it is. After about a year of use and wear, you can feel the heat more obviously just by touching. Personally, I like this level of heat so I know there's no risk of overheating and she can spend hours in the bed at a time. In summer, she’s happy to use it as long as I unplug it, so the bed is certainly as comfortable as it is warm. The 16-inch size is a comfortable fit for small to medium-sized adult cats.

TIP: If you’re having trouble getting your cat to use it, put a piece of clothing that smells like you into the bed! My senior cat never used a cat bed before and a month of treats and catnip got her paws in but didn’t get her to stay. One day I threw in a well-worn shirt on a whim. M HendersonM Henderson: My kitty is 18 years old and likes to sleep on our front door rug which covers a heat vent. It’s hard to go in and out with him there. I bought the bed since it’s heated. I’ve bought at least 20 beds over the years that he wouldn’t lay in. Miracles!! After 2 days he is now in the bed! I will try the half cover on it soon. Some reviews said it wasn’t soft. It has a huge poufy-like pillow in it. Very cushy!!

Ruby S.: This is a great bed, I got it on sale. It is super light! When I picked it up at the post office, I wasn't sure it was the bed...it weighed next to nothing. It seems like it is very comfortable. Very soft with lots of stuffing for the pillow. I wish the heating pad was bigger/stronger I think with all the stuffing it just can't get through all the layers for the cat to feel it. I can't feel it when I put my hand on it. Although when I unzip it and feel the pad right on my hand it is warm, not hot by any means, but warm. I understand for fire and safety they probably have to put a certain amount of layers between the heating and your cat, but I got this so my kitty will stay off the xbox and dvd player...I don't think this will make him change his mind. He is only 3months so perhaps I can do some more training and redirect his attention to the bed. I might just buy a heating pad meant for humans and see if that changes things.

MaryMMaryM: In November 2017 ordered the tan color and the size was perfect. Height of hood very nice and the pillow soft but low density which gives the bedding area more room height for the cat. I just reordered this (March 2018) in the brown since tan was out of stock.
There is a BIG difference in this one. PILLOW is too stuffed making the height lower - secondly the hood is not as tall leaving a smaller opening. We will let it sit out and see if either one goes into it otherwise I'll have to send it back. The male cat is larger and may not like the lower hood height. The original one was left out in our living room for a few days and now my one cat sits in it every morning. This pix was taken just now Nov. 22. Once she is used to it I will plug it in downstairs where it is cooler at night. Update - our other cat also tried it out and slept in it all afternoon.

Lucy: My 20 year old Sophie, who will be 21 in December loves her new bed. At this point I don't plug it in in the daytime because the sun shines in my room and it's warm enough, so I only plug it in at night, but once winter is here it will be on all the time. I have been thinking about getting her something like this for so long and I'm so happy I finally did it. Sophie thanks you for making such a wonderful product for the elderly. Maybe she will make it to 22 with this bed.

Maria FrancisMaria Francis: We bought this for our four pound dog who is always cold, especially in the winter months. There is a period of off-gassing so don't expect your pet to just crawl up inside of it because it smells very strong and artificial at first. After letting it air out for a week, it took an additional two to three weeks to get the dog to take to the bed. Thankfully with treats and lots of encouragement we got her to use it. Now she won't sleep anywhere else. She's actually stopped sleeping with us & even refuses to come out of it when we get home.
She has more energy and is overall happier in attitude because she isn't cold all the time. I think it may have helped her with her aches and pains due to hip dysplasia and back issues. This was a solid buy for our girl.
I did notice that the bed seems to stay warmer when I put a fleece blanket underneath it as opposed to leaving it just on the floor. We also lined it with another fleece blanket to make it more of a snuggly cave for her and she loves it.

cipher: I have three cats, and one of these is quite slender and looks for warmth during cooler weather (such as sitting on an air vent when the heat is on). I already had two cat heating pads, also from K&H, which my slender cat likes and uses. I was hoping to find something a bit softer for her and thought this might be the answer. As it turns out, slender cat has no interest in it, but fat cat, who doesn't need any help staying warm,loves it. C'est la vie.

However, the zipper that attaches the hood to the bed is extremely delicate to the point of being useless. On one of the few times I went to attach the hood, the zipper completely misaligned, resulting in an unusable attachment. Call it user error if you'd like, but a zipper for a cat bed really shouldn't be more delicate than one for an evening gown.

So, not a waste of money, but not terribly robust.

Nancy H: Great for Sphynx (hairless) cats! This bed is exactly what we needed for our Sphynx cat. It has been extremely hot lately where we live, so we have the air conditioner on often to make it bearable in our house. Our Sphynx had to have his sweater on all day, or else he was constantly cold, and meowing, and trying to find a warm place to sleep. I don't like to have his sweater on all the time so he can clean himself and just to let his skin breathe. This has been so great! If he gets cold, he hops right in and curls up. The 'hood' is an added bonus, as I turn it towards the air conditioner and it blocks the cool air coming towards the bed. I was concerned that the 'small' would be very small, but it is actually surprisingly large and could accommodate a fair size cat comfortably. The material is of very good quality, and feels plush and nice. Also, there were no weird chemically smells off-gassing when it arrived. I honestly can't think of any cons to this bed. Even the price was, in my opinion, very reasonable considering what you would pay at Petsmart, etc. We are very happy with this bed and would recommend to anyone, especially those of you with a Sphynx.

Linda T: I ordered this for my 14 year old cat as she loves to be warm. She curled up in it almost immediately and obviously loves the gentle heat it provides. It's just the right size for one cat to curl up in comfortably so if you have cats that like to share a bed, the larger size would probably be more practical. The hood zips off which is a good thing as the only downside of this bed is that the hood doesn't have anything to stiffen it along the front so it tends to flop down too far. It's not necessary though so I just took it off. So far, an excellent product overall and a good purchase.

Young Day: We received the bed about 2 weeks ago and our cat really enjoys it. The heated pad fits all the way across the inside of the cat bed. Our hood arches over the cat bed like it is shown in the pictures. The hood has about a 1/2 inch thick piece of foam in it and I don't see how it could possible sag. Perhaps someone got a badly made hood. That said, there is one problem with the bed. When zipping the hood onto the bed, the teeth of the zipper do not always mesh together, so it is possible to have the hood only attached at the beginning and end of the zipper. I had to try zipping it about 10 or 15 times to get the zipper to work right. Since people feel compeled to play with the zipper, I used a needle and thread to secure the zipper head so I don't have to keep trying to zip the hood back onto the cat bed.
