Amazon Customer: The rough surface is not good for fragile little feet and has to be wrapped in order to be used. After wrapping its a perfect swing.

fmp: Will buy again if required, however had to cut off the uprights on the swing as they were not adjustable, and I had to use wire from my stock to get the correct size to hang. Perch section is also quite long for a single budgie to rest on

AfterTheEvent: This swing is lightweight and swings well it's quick and easy to mount in the cage, the texture is abrasive but quite fine so shouldn't cause any problems, however my canary likes a good swing and he's definitely not as keen on this swing as others, personally I think that it's because the perch is quite thin (6 or 7mm) and he needs to hang on hard to swing. I change things about fairly regularly so it will remain a change when his favourites need cleaning.

Sazi: This must be my bird's favourite toy. I was a little concerned that she wouldn't like it since she was young when I bought it, but in no time she was sleeping and playing on her perch and even likes to hang upside down to show off her wings! She hasn't had her nails trimmed once in the past year and they're all comfortably short and uniform which I'm sure is largely thanks to this swing. It hasn't shown any signs of wear and tear despite highly enthusiastic use and I'm planning to pick up a couple of smaller versions for my budgies too!

GaryBV: I generally stay away from any product that is rough because birds have sensitive feet, but I did want one thing in the cage that they can chose to be on that would help with their little toenails, and this item fits the bill. It is large enough for both of my Fischer Lovebirds, Mariposa and Papillon, to get on and swing together, and they often do, but small enough that just one bird is happy on it as well. I have 2 other swings in the cage besides this one and both of the birds by far prefer this swing. I also like that the swing is not all one size, but varied, which is better for their feet. All in all, I'm very happy with this swing, the birds love it, it is safe, and therefore I am giving it a 5 star review. Highly recommended.

I wanted to include here a recipe for a fresh diet that a breeder I highly respect gave me (Thank you Angela) just to offer some advice to keep our pet birds healthier - it is not at all related this the product I have reviewed here but it could very well give you some great ideas to get fresh fruits and vegetables into your bird.

Jennifer: I have a pair of 'keets and an additional budgie who, for the most part, rarely play with their toys. However, they absolutely LOVE this sandy swing. I can almost guarantee that they're swinging on this perch right now. My parakeet pair will take turns with one of them on the perch and the other giving it a push to start it moving.

Personally, I think that despite it's coated in sand which is pretty cheap, the rocking back and forth action that they do while swinging probably files their nails better than my other perches ( Living World Pedi-Perch, Mini  and  JW Pet Company Insight Sand Perch Bird Accessory, Small ).

I like to give my birds a variety of perches with varying widths and textures, and they've also got normal wood perches, plastic chain, and rope perches for variety and to keep them from chafing the bottom of their feet. In fact, all of the sandy perches I own have different widths down the perch to provide exercise for the feet and legs, which reduces foot-related injuries (pain, arthritis, and strengthens feet). It's like allowing them to have plenty of shoes - you have a few pairs of comfortable, well-fitting shoes, and a few uncomfortable...
