The Moon Goddess: I bought this folded when old one started to lose its sharpness. I finally tried it last week & what a disappointment. I was slicing green olives & it would not slice the olives. It jyst would not cut through. Returning it if I still can.

prag: We had one of these egg slicers that looked identical to this Home-X product and replaced it because over the years the plastic parts broke and the blades fell out. There is an important difference between the old product and the new: The part that pushes the egg through the cutting blades was concave (cupped to fit the egg) on the old model, while the new model tries to push the egg through using a convex (curved outward). A pusher that cups the egg provides superior control of the egg. The Home-X product pushes on the egg in a way that makes it difficult to keep it centered over the cutter--Try pushing a round marble with another and you will get the idea.

The Tinkering Spinster: I use this for my egg salad all the time and it works great. The only issue I sometimes have with it is that it sticks if it has food lodged between the two pieces and it's difficult to get it to open back up.
