Halo Garden of Vegan Grain-Free Wet Dog Food for Adults

Dee Dee: My dog gets excited at mealtime, because he knows he’ll receive this Halo Plant-based dog food. It doesn’t cause GI upset that he’s had since a pup (now 11y/o) from eating meat-based dog food. He’s perfectly happy eating a plant-based diet, and has lots of energy.

barbaraes: I have a 15 year old Shih Tzu mix and a 1 year old Yorkie mix. The older dog has been sick and has become very picky about his food. The younger one has to have exactly what her older brother is having.

I was having so much trouble getting the older one to eat, that I resorted to putting a little bit of Gerber’s chicken and gravy on top of his food and on his pill pockets and pill cones. I was not too happy about that.

I had been using Natural Balance plant-based foods for my older dog for years, but since his interest was waning, I decided to see if he would like Halo better. I put some on top of each bowl of Natural Balance, and OMG, both bowls were empty in no time! I haven’t seen them eat like that in months! I also put some of the Halo pâté on the peanut butter pill cones I just started using. He took the pills right away!

michelle: I bought this food because its pate consistency is perfect for hiding my dog's meds. I really was skeptical that she would like a plant-based food since she is about as carnivorous as it gets. She turns her nose up at most foods that aren't meat or cheese, including peanut butter! I, however, am vegan and always try to find her food that is as ethically sourced as possible. Halo is one of the few brands that is Animal Welfare Certified by the Global Animal Partnership and after trying a chicken & salmon flavor from them that she liked, I decided to give this formula a try. She devours it!

My only wish is that the labeling was a little easier to understand. Its ingredients don't list any obvious grains, but it is not labeled as grain-free, so I'm guessing something in this formula is considered a grain? I avoid grains for my dog, but whatever grain is in this food, it must be minimal, as she has had no adverse reactions after eating several cans. I also think it would be good if Halo included their GAP partnership step # on their label. So that's it -- the food itself is great and the only changes I'd like to see are on the labeling.

MahendraC: My 18 years old puggle is crazy about this. The container size is just perfect and is very convenient to open. Also the food seems very fresh. This certainly is a high quality is product.

AJAJ: My Cavachon Meadow has always been a very, very, picky eater- on top of that fact is she is allergic to every source of protein! Beef, chicken and turkey- can't have but loves chicken. Fish, no way, bison allergic, pork, allergic, anything that has wings, allergic. I was cooking for her and trying everything. Finally, after 6 years we found ZIgnature Kangaroo food. She liked it, and she was not allergic. She ate it for 5 years then one day said-nope, sick of it. She would not touch it again. That left me is a situation. Luckily I found Halo Vegan. She will eat it, I have to say she does not love the mushyness of it but I add cooked carrots and green beans and a little bit of peas or rice to give her something to bite on and she does good, If not for this Halo, I don't know what I would do because she is so picky and can't afford to be with all her allergies. SO, if you happen to have a dog like Meadow...you should try this out and see what happends. OH, I forgot we had to put her on a prescription diet of Science Hill for dogs with noval protein allergies and that food was a texture that was like custard but a little more firm. I had to add veggies...
