It rained from 7am to 2pm in BC (Canada). It does not keep the hands decent dry or warm. I can understand that it has a Slit Finger (so obviously the water leaks), but at the end of the day, the gloves were all wet. If you planning to do serious fishing (winter steelhead in Canada) I don't recommend this pair of gloves. I've tried other gloves and they don't work for rainy days. It is very challenging because you need to be relatively dry/warm but the Slit gets you WET at the end (also you need your fingers to tie knots etc). Also, I tried these gloves for fly fishing as well. The line gets tangled in the finger holders. PLEASE, You have a better suggestion please let me know.

Fishing4Life: the only thing is that the fit isn't really that good. i use these gloves for fishing and the fit isn't very comfortable for fishing. too baggy i should say.

Nicole C.: Great for those cold days on the water. The ergonomic design of the hand is perfect and comfortable. You are foolin yourself if you think you can tie detailed knots with your fingers outside the slits... the fold back Velcro finger and thumb still get in the way...I may end up cutting the thumb and forefinger off if I don’t get better at knots with them intact. Love them regardless for steelhead fishing in icy conditions.

The T's: Wanted a glove for the spring and fall fishing trip in the high-country. These worked well to hold some heat when your hands get wet. The open fingers make it easier to handle line and tie on flys. The bulk in the palms took some getting used to, but better than being bare-handed when days are chilly and the fish are biting. I've tried many types of gloves from rag wool, polar fleece and neoprene and they each have their place. These helped on cold days just to keep from going numb, but don't expect them to keep you "indoors warm". If that's what you want, stay indoors ;-)

Andrea: Horrible: in theory, the finger flaps are a good idea. In use, the flaps don't stay attached, so for active sports, the flaps will interfere with what you're trying to do with your hands. And I'm cold water, to add insult to injury, the open fingers let the water in, so your hands are constantly cold because the water in the gloves never get a chance to warm up. Basically, the flaps defeat the purpose of neoprene gloves. I bought it by accident when I meant to buy the regular ones. I should thought this through and returned it.

the dog: They are warm enough for 4 celcius weather, the flaps are a bit flimsy, i expect them to have the velcro get loose over time, but they will help keep my hands from freezing

Unbiased Reviewer: Very comfortable and warm during the cold months. The neoprene keeps you hands warm while sticking it in icy cold waters. The stitching seems more sturdier than the Bass Pro version.
It's a little bulky while fishing at times. The precurved fingers helps a bit with the bending. Being able to pull back the index finger and thumbs is a great help, but the Velcro that keeps them in place can be difficult to keep them attached. I wish the Velcro was a little bigger or stronger.

D. Myatt: I got these for for cold-weather radio-controlled (RC) flying.
Regular gloves -- no matter the material or thickness -- don't allow the precise fingertip sensitivity that you want in the thumbs and forefingers in order to work the RC controls.
These slit-finger gloves are just the ticket!
Besides that, they're pretty comfortable and warm. (Haven't tried them yet in EXTREME cold, but I think they'd do fairly well. And, if needed, I could add a thin inner liner for extra warmth -- with the tips of the thumb and forefinger cut off.)
Mine have no weird smell, mentioned by another reviewer. They do smell like what they are - neoprene - but IMO that's noticeable only if you put them right up to your nose. I'm a scuba diver, with a full neoprene wetsuit, so I'm used to the smell (and worse, if you know what I mean!). Maybe some people are especially sensitive to it, so that reviewer's comment is understandable.
These might not stand up to use as heavy-duty work gloves. But that's not what I got them for, and I don't intend to put them to that test.

D Nelson: It is warm even when wet and is quite easy to stretch however use is quite frustrating. The fit is very loose around the open finger and thumb even without opening up, allowing a lot of moisture to penetrate. Approximately a full pinky of looseness without any stretch
Also the hook and loop is far too long, even with locked, the extra hook material snags on all fabrics like shirts and lines, should have much more limited portion of hook material
Exposed hook material on fiber and thumb also snags commonly
