Giro Register MIPS Adult Cycling Helmet for Recreational Riders

G Driller: I bought this helmet for my wife. She found it very comfortable, and she loved the color, but it sat a little too high on her head and she thought the back of the helmet could have come down a little lower to better protect the back of her neck.

Meh: Pros:
+ Top rated helmet as reviewed by consumer reports in 2023. They considered performance in crash testing and adjustability amongst other things.

+ Nice ratcheting mechanism for the back of the head tightens and loosens with a twist.

Cons:
- The removable visor is too short to have much effect against the sun. Worse, it easily pops off of the helmet when it brushes a against things such as a commuter book bag so you should expect to lose visor with frequent use.

- The strap comes loose at the bottom even when using the elastic loop to hold it in place and the plastic guides in the rear of the helmet are easily deformed by hanging the helmet. Also, the straps on the sides the helmet also have a twist built into their design so they never sit perfectly flush against your head. I don’t notice it through my hair but others may notice it with a closer haircut.

Jerry Smith: Comfortable, easy to dial in the correct size after putting on. It's lightweight and relatively cool in ventilation. Feels and looks like a quality helmet. I'm happy with the purchase.

The Science OfficerThe Science Officer: This helmet is lightweight, comfortable, and good protection from falls. I chose white to reflect the sun. On a hot humid morning, I biked 20 miles wearing this helmet. Despite stopping 3 times to drink water and eat a clementine, I wound up dehydrated. About a 1/2 mile from the car, I stopped the bike, intent on getting off it. I put my feet down and leaned over the handle bars feeling very sick. The next thing I knew I was face down in the dirt after passing out from low blood pressure. These photographs were taken after the spill. The thin visor had popped off, but it didn't break. Amazingly, I didn't get a scratch on my nose, face, or head, and my neck was fine. I wound up with a scraped knee, huge black and blue on my chest, and 2 bags of IV fluid. The helmet was unscathed. STAY HYDRATED, FOLKS!
