sn: I absolutely love this book. I have twin grandsons that I read it to. I have fantastic pictures of me reading it to them when they were little. Then they got triplet sisters and they destroyed the first book so we bought another one and have read it to them. My grandsons are almost 6 now and still love this book. They can also learn to read from it. Beautiful illustrations.

Amazon Customer: Fun little book for the kids. My son wants us to read it over and over to him. Board book is of decent quality though the pages aren't very thick to most board books due to the length of the story but still hold up better than paper back

Jessica Ross: Bought this as we have another one of his books (chugga chugga choo choo) and we love that one. This book is definitely not as good, very repetitive and a little annoying to read but overall a cute book. It's a nice little board book.

J.e.m: *Edited to 5 stars because my son loves this book.

My husband wrote the original review below but I've changed the rating to 5 stars because I just asked my toddler son how many stars he would give this book and he emphatically said "5 stars!!!" He's owned this book for a while now and still reads it to this day. Honestly, I think my son's opinion matters more since he is the intended audience of a children's book about a dump truck, not some man in his late 30s.

I took inspiration from a portion of the book itself for my review:

Rotten luck. Can’t read! This book just sucks.

Cadence grinds.
The grammar’s poor.
And I won’t buy another.

Not one book more.

So this book claims to be rhythmic, but the actual content of the book has so many hard stops and irregular lines that it’s definitely not.

I usually don’t even bother to review bad novels I’ve read, so the fact I’ve come here to call this book out is a testament to how terrible it is.

Heed the warnings of the 1-Star reviews and buy something else.

amanda: Super cute. My nephew loved it. Good size for young toddler. He's only 2 but I think it will grow with him. He likes the pictures and likes being read too. Eventually he will be able to read it himself so I didn't mind getting it early.

Heather: My son took this out of the library so many times, I ended up buying it for him. (He just turned 3 but we've been reading it for about a year.) He loves it to the point that I hear him reciting the story to himself as he's playing and lining up his toy cars. "Rotten luck. My truck is stuck!" It's adorable.
