Nick: I’ve been using Viking and a few other ones. That have been hit and miss but the smell was never really there for me. This one has the best smell I’ve ever had. Beard shines and tames. Definitely going to try their other scents as well. 10 out of 10 recommended. Also. Shipping was fast as usual with prime.

QHowes: It feels like it's a beeswax base. Scent smells like what you would expect James Bond to smell like. Feels great in the beard too. Great balm.

Redbeard: Great product! This is my first time using beard balm (I used beard oil before). It rubs clear in your hands and I haven't experienced any wax balls. It seems to soften my beard some and even provides just a slight amount of hold and has also helped straighten my beard which is a huge plus. As far as the smell goes it's very subtle and pleasant, not overwhelming at all. It smells a lot like vanilla to me, I don't really get much of a bourbon scent from it. I will definitely purchase more when I run out of this tin, possibly maybe mix it up and get one of the other Grave Before Shave balms.

Smizzy: I don't use product on the daily only when I want my facial hair to look extra nice and have a good hold on the loose hairs. I keep a short beard so it doesn't have a problem doing this job for me. I like the shine affect it can be a bit too much if you don't get the amount correct. My beard does smell good and feel moisturized with this product. The only thing though is I have to get the amount to use down to science otherwise I do feel a bit of irritation after several hours of it being in( I don't want too little because I wont get enough hold and I don't want too much otherwise irritation starts to settle in.) But all in all I am more than satisfied with this product especially since I am African American and finding beard balms/oils to work for us can be a hassle.

Nic R.: Perfect scent! this was actually one of the more tough decisions on a purchase that I have made in awhile. I wanted something that smells subtle, manly, and not perfumey, citrusy, minty, or like sun tan lotion. I like bourbon a lot, but I wasn't not sure that I wanted to smell it all day on my face. I took a leap and I love it! it really doesn't smell like bourbon (which is good.) Its scent is tough to describe exactly, but it has a certain woodyness that actually reminds me of vintage wood furniture (namely the teak early 60s hutch that I use as my liquor cabinet) with maybe a super light bit of vanilla. It is subtle, but there all day, and my wife likes it too.

But how does it perform?? this is my first time using a beard balm so I don't have much to compare it to but it has been just the ticket to tame my beard. It doesn't plaster the beard into place, instead it seems to condition it, which calms it into submission. I actually find combing it later in the day has better result than right after application. It doesn't take much, and it is not greasy at all.

I will be re-ordering once I run out!
