Ryan: I purchased one of these as I was planning to go hiking on my own and wanted a reliable way to not get lost, don't worry I also took a map and compass and am confident in using them. The build quality is very robust - I also purchased the Garmin protective carry case to prevent it from getting dirty. The device comes with a carabiner clip so don't buy one, unless you want a spare. Setup was straight forward. It was very easy to transfer routes onto the device from Garmin BaseCamp. As you would expect the GPS is very reliable - I have used this in a wide range of landscapes and haven't lost signal here in the UK. Battery life is good, longer than I expected, although take spare batteries. Following a route is very simple. Your current track (where you are actually moving) is displayed in pink (can be changed) alongside your downloaded route. There is a timers section which displays the moving time, stopped time, distance and average pace. Just make sure to reset these prior to starting a new route.
Overall, I am very pleased with the device and I regularly use it, even for short walks to track my distance. A worthy investment
I do believe that Garmin was supposed to...

Southern FamilySouthern Family: I am no expert when it comes to reviewing a GPS. This is the first GPS I have owned and so I intend to explain some of the basic pros and cons of this product.
INTRODUCTION:
I bought this device so that I could use it for geocaching and walking with the family. I can load lots of geocaches onto it and I am able to view details of the loaded geocaches. It is also great for navigating in general and is MUCH more accurate than my phone GPS, as expected. Anyway, there are lots of pros and cons to this product and I will do my best to address most of them in this review.
DURABILITY \ RESILIENCE:
The case does look very nice in my opinion. The screen (about 2.5") is plenty big enough and the resolution is pretty good. The exterior casing is rubber and the GPS features a strong metal spine which prevents water from entering the battery enclosure. The mini USB port is protected by a rubber flap. The GPS definitely deserves its water resistant rating (IPX7). All in all, the case is very rugged and can easily survive heavy drops and short immersions in water. A Garmin carabina is also provided which allows you to clip it onto loops which I do like. I don't have...

Wer's braucht, sollte...

Ryan Johnson: If you are considering upgrading to a new GPSr, or if you are looking for your first purchase, Garmin's GPSMAP 64s is the best unit for your dollar. It is full of features that everyone from the casual outdoorsman to the soldier in the field will find useful and fill their needs.
Users of the previous 60 and 62 models will be right at home with the latest version of Garmin's GPSMAP series. The interface and software is exactly the same as that as the 62 series with nothing new to learn. New users will find it easy pick up after a quick read through the manual and a little time operating it. The menus are fairly intuitive, but might take some time to get familiar with navigating them and finding your way back to certain options. Never fear though, there are infinite resources available on the internet should a question arise!
Major improvements made to this unit are all under the hood. The new quad helix antenna allows you to get a very swift fix on your position by utilizing signals from not only GPS but also from the Russian GLONASS satellite constellation. The unit's improved three axis electronic compass accurately points at North (True, Maganetic, Grid, or User...

GLENN SIX: I have used this unit while hiding geocaches along with my Garmin 60csx for the past week and I'm very happy with its performance. The Garmin 64s locks into the satellites much faster than my 60csx does. With the extra Glonas satellites the signal is much more accurate. I get 8 to 9 foot accuracy most of the time compared to 12 to 14 foot accuracy with the 60csx. The functions are very easy to get used to on this unit which is a good thing because the owners manual is not very helpful as it is very vague. The only problem I have had with this unit is trying to figure out how to delete a single geocache from the unit, so far I have not been able to do this. You can delete a waypoint easily but not a loaded geocache. The graphics are very good and the screen is easy to see in the daylight. I also purchased the Garmin battery pack which I recommend because you can charge it while it is in the unit which is a nice option because I usually plug my GPSr unit in to my cars aux. outlet while driving which will keep the battery charging while I drive.

Yedy Lamarr: I purchased the Garmin GPSMAP 64s Worldwide with High-Sensitivity GPS and GLONASS Receiver to use while kayaking. A number of online reviews suggested purchasing the 64s vs the more expensive 64st which just adds a Topo base map of the US. Instead I opted to load free maps available at GPS File Depot ( http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/ ) and convert my own NOAA Nautical Charts (not for the faint of heart, but doable) onto a SanDisk Ultra 32GB UHS-I/Class 10 Micro SDHC Memory Card . So far I have been very happy with my decision to do so (though I can always buy the expensive Garmin map memory cards down the road if I choose too). The unit itself works flawlessly helping me chart routes to kayak, keep track of my trips and, most importantly, find my way back to the launch after a day of exploring. I can also vouch for the units water resistance as it regularly gets splashed while I paddle and has taken an unplanned swim with me when I flipped my kayak.
Most recently I put the unit to work in dense brush while searching for a lost dog over three days to keep track of where I had already searched and so I had a accurate fix on my position. It worked flawlessly and...

PROS:
+ grosszuegige Erweiterung diverser Speicher.
"Points of Interest" abhaengig von vorgebbaren Kartenpunkten.

Giovanni ManieriGiovanni Manieri: DESCRIZIONE:
