Amazon Customer: First off it's my ignorance at fault and the shampoo is what it is but it's nothing special for the price, I was under the impression that this would get out excess shed from my staffy more so than a standard shampoo but it doesn't, the only difference is that this is enriched with supplements that help to slow down shedding but I already give my staffy salmon oil that has added vitamins that do what this shampoo claims to do and I know from research that topical supplements are not as good as taking supplements internally, I also found that there was very little scent after washing and drying her so now I'm using her old baby scented shampoo after this which the scent lasts for about 4-5 days and is less than half the cost, so if you don't give your dog supplements in their food then maybe you might notice a difference in shedding but otherwise this shampoo doesn't actually do much more than any regular dog shampoo.

csbjo: We have a high shedding pointer mix (mutt, but don’t tell her). Although her hair is short, I find it everywhere! Even frequent vacuuming and sweeping didn’t keep the level of hair to an acceptable level. Just petting her briefly caused a couple dozen hairs to cling to fly out. We tried the shampoo with low expectations - how can a shampoo keep hair from falling out? But, wow, this stuff works! She still sheds, but very minimally. While she doesn’t have particularly sensitive skin, this doesn’t seem to irritate her or cause more scratching. As far as fragrance, she doesn’t smell as good as she did after a more scented shampoo. But I will gladly trade that for less shedding. Wonder if this works on humans with male pattern baldness! Just kidding - please don’t try it on humans!

Adria: I was skeptical about the product to begin with, but I needed something to help get the excess fur off of my dog. I was completely amazed at the job this shampoo did. I could not believe the amount of excess that came off of my dog. The days following after his bath, he left little to no hair behind when he laid down anywhere. Highly satisfied!

Mollymae: I have 2 dogs with horrible undercoats, no rugs and ceiling to floor windows which show up every single hair on the flooring. I vacuum every day and they get a bath about once every 2 weeks. I have been using the Furminator brush and have recently tried the shampoo and solution. I always take a lot of time bathing the dogs so I didn't expect much hair in the drain this time. I must say I did get more than I had expected. And it seemed to be very soft hair. I don't know if that is just because the shampoo and conditioner made the hair soft or not. The shampoo has a nice coconut odor that is not strong and the conditioner has a flowery smell that does last on the dogs but it is not overpowering. I was worried when I read about the shampoo and conditioner having a nice smell. Most of these things give me a terrible headache and sore throat. Even when I would take my small dog to the groomer I would have to tell her, "nothing with perfume in it." These do not give me a headache or sore throat, which I was grateful for. They are very silky and smooth. More so than when I would usually wash them but in all fairness, I had not used a conditioner on them before.

CJ: Our dog is a lab mix, which means she has the "lab undercoat"...which means that every summer (and anytime she starts getting nervous, like in thunderstorms), it all just starts dropping out. We got this product (as well as a  FURminator Medium Yellow Deshedding Tool with 2-2/3-Inch Edge ) to see if it would help it at all. We gave her a bath with this shampoo for the first time last night, and my first impressions were "wow, she's really shiny now!" and "holy cow, that's a lot of hair left in the tub!"

There's really no explanation in the product information about how this is supposed to work/help; whether it is intended to help *remove* lose undercoat hair, therein helping prevent it from "shedding" out later, or if it is supposed to stop the hair from dropping out/shedding in the first place...which to be honest, would be kind of odd if you think about it. Your dog sheds for a reason, and it would be very unhealthy for their skin/coat if they were prevented from shedding.

All that to say, my best guess is that it is the former, and that this product removes more hair during the bathing process so there is less to comb out, and shed out later. If that is in...
